A friends to lovers tale, filled with love and emotion and finding true love at last.
Loved the settings - San Francisco & Thailand...so vividly written that I could feel myself in Chiang Mai again.

Review: Omens by Kelley Armstrong

Omens (Cainsville, #1)Omens by Kelley Armstrong
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After reading Kelley Armstrong’s Otherworld Series….ooh I was really sad when it ended, I was so looking forward to her next offering. And what a start to her new Cainsville Series with the 1st book, Omens.

Amazing………Incredible!!!! What a great beginning!!

Olivia Taylor-Jones, the only daughter of a prominent and affluent Chicago family seems to have seems to have everything anyone wants – she’s well-educated, rich, beautiful and engaged to a man with the right connections and who fits in beautifully in her life. The ultimate perfect life.

Her perfect world comes crashing down when she discovers, in a very shocking manner, that she’ was adopted as a toddler and that her birth parents are serial killers, serving life sentences.
It’s like she’s falling down the rabbit hole – all these weird things start happening to her….leading her to flee to Cainsville, a little sleepy and very strange town an hour away from her home in Chicago.

Strange things happen in Cainsville. Bizarre and strange characters, black cats, ravens and crows appear out of nowhere, gargoyles that pop out suddenly in houses and buildings……….and Olivia suddenly begins seeing and able to read these strange signs and omens surround her.

It’s like she’s meant to be in this little town, which has a strong connection to her birth parents.
She meets up Gabriel Walsh. Now, here’s an interesting character. I just couldn’t “read” him. There’s something about him that just puzzled me throughout the book. He’s connected in a lot of ways to Olivia and not just because he’s her birth mother’s fired lawyer.

All the characters that Olivia meets be it in Chicago or Cainsville seem to have a connection to her and her birth parents. And just when I thought there would be some kind of revelation about the characters, another twist suddenly appears.

There’s this atmosphere of evil and dark things working here………something supernatural...I was so lured into the story that I kept turning page after page wanting to know the answers to the questions that Olivia had.
Who is Gabriel Walsh? Where does his “psychic” aunt fit into the story? What are the town elders hiding?

I was unable to tear myself away from this story…..was that my heart beating faster as I turned the next page to discover something IMPORTANT?

When I reached the last page……….I was still in the dark!!!! What is going on? I want to know now!!!!!!

I was totally freaked out……..I so desperately wanted answers and now have to wait for the next book!!!!!!!

So many mysteries, secrets……..I can’t wait to find out!!!!

I am so happy that I was able to love a new series by this author, whose books I really like a lot.

Review: Twisted by Emma Chase

Twisted (Tangled, #2)Twisted by Emma Chase
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I loved Tangled so I was really excited to get a bit more of Drew....yes, I knew that this book was going to be Kate's POV but still I would get Drew!!!

Well, let me say that I didn't exactly hate Kate's POV story but rather....I did not love it!!!!

What the hell.....how could anyone be that idiotic....yes, not only Kate but Drew as well....how could any two people who are together and love each other so much like them get something so wrong!!!!!!!! Beyond misunderstanding!!!!!!!

The reaction by the two of them is totally so out there!!! Really, grow up I wanted to tell them.

Despite my "teeth gnashing", I did enjoy the fabulous writing by this author. It's funny, easy to read and funny...yes I did have some of those LMHO moments.....and geez....okay, if you are a reader who DOES NOT WANT SPOILERS...STOP RIGHT HERE....getting back....geez...yes, am I happy these two "idiotic at times" duo finally get all the sh............sorted out and go off into the sunset together........HURRAH!!!

And yes, the part I loved the most in this story????? You guessed correctly....the Epilogue...which is from Drew's POV....this guy is absolutely beyond gorgeous (I even forgive him is stupid behavior at times that drive me batty!!!)....so anymore about these two in the future Ms Chase?????????????

This was an enjoyable read but not as much as book #1.

I liked Aislin & Rowan (what's with the Rowie thing!!!!!!). They had a nice chemistry together.

I must admit that I was more interested in Rowan's brother, Chris and I can't wait to read his book.

Review: Justice (New Species Series #4) by Laurann Dohner

Justice (New Species, #4)Justice by Laurann Dohner
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

 photo a9e07b89198d92d7a5b249e0319c4205_zps34f5f5af.jpg
I am becoming totally addicted to this series!!!

Justice is the 4th book in this series and met Justice in the previous books, I was so looking forward to his story and WOW…I just LOVED IT!!!
Justice North, breathtakingly gorgeous photo justicene_zpsdc0cbdd7.jpg and leader of the NSO (New Species Organization), is totally committed to keeping his people safe and will do anything for them even if it means him having to sacrifice his own happiness, which has made him feel very lonely and seeing some of his people finding their own happiness, has made it even worse.

Into his life blows Jessie Dupree!!!! Daughter of a pro-New Species Senator, who works in the human task force, that help find and rescue the New Species females that had been given, by Mercile Industries as sex slave gifts to their benefactors, soon turns his life into total turmoil. Funny, caring, sassy, kick-ass (hell, she can take down a few of the bad buys on her own……..)
 photo images_zps03f4a031.jpg

Justice can’t resist her!!! But he knows that it will be dangerous to get involved with a human female and he has always told himself that he would take a woman of his own kind to ensure that there would be no conflict between his people and humans.
Justice & Jessie are unable to ignore the feelings for each other, even if it means having to hide their attraction from others. She is the first woman that makes Justice feel at peace with himself….yes, some sweet moments like the massage Jessie gives him to the sensual and hot sex between them!!
“He hesitated. “We’ve been told we’re larger than typical males.”

Larger. She swallowed. “I can deal with that. Larger as in ‘just a bit bigger’ or as in ‘that is never, ever going to fit inside me’?”
Oh, did I mention that Justice does roar (okay, normal for a part lion/jaguar!!) but he also………… photo unnamed_zps6f4c55aa.jpg, YES, YES, he photo images6_zpsb8d21c6a.jpgHow sexy is that??????

Huge obstacles ahead….I loved the way Jessie orchestrated the way of getting Justice to stand up and face his feelings for her!!!!!
“Let me tell you how it’s going to be, Justice. You don’t tell me who I can and can’t have inside my house. I work for the NSO but my personal life is my own. You lost the right to give me your opinion,” she stressed that last word, “about what I do or don’t do the second you decided you didn’t want to see me anymore. You don’t want me so don’t you dare tell me I can’t spend time with other men.”
Humor, action, romance, intrigue, great secondary characters (please tell me that we are going to get Breeze’s book!!!)…………in the meantime, next its Brawn’s (who has taken over Jessie’s job) book.

Review: Valiant (New Species Series #3) by Laurann Dohner

Valiant (New Species, #3)Valiant by Laurann Dohner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Valiant is one of the species that doesn’t like humans…he’s more animal than human, so he stays deep in the forest away from everyone else…in the previous book, he was looking forward to meeting the female new species and finding one of them for a mate.
Well, life has a few surprises for him….I felt he could not be as mean as he portrayed himself to be photo images_zpsda1648a4.jpg….okay, so he’s not a fuzzy…. photo tumblr_m2n121xCGR1rq70dlo1_500_zpsb66ab4d4.gif… for heaven’s sake, he lives in a beautiful Victorian house, deep in the forest, which he’s lovingly renovating… photo download3_zps9fcfdb34.jpg
He meets the human Tammy Sashta….a sassy and really cute woman…and pow pow….Valiant is lost….from the first moment he sees her…..it’s like photo images2_zps3ed6ba8f.jpg and Valiant by Laurann Dohner photo de0319a3-1c06-4997-afc9-fe6f0a144066_zps3d5e1a0a.gif
Valiant is beyond dominating..
photo images1_zps662723c3.jpg but Tammy is no shrinking violet!!!

Hell, these guys are hot…..they sure know how to keep humans happy

They are such a cute couple…….

Love the world building….and can’t wait to hear more about 927!!!!

Review: Slade (New Species Series #2) by Laurann Dohner

Slade (New Species, #2)Slade by Laurann Dohner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As I mentioned in my review of the 1st book in the series https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... , I was a bit apprehensive continuing reading the next book. Fury reminded me a lot of Lora Leigh's Breed Series, but I decided to read the next story and I was, despite the similarities, quite impressed.

I did enjoy Slade's story more than Fury.
Slade is part human/canine...gorgeous, naturally.. photo 44db0bde3059eb37221d98afbcecc4be_zps15eb4184.jpg
He falls in love with Trisha Norbitt, the Homeland (home of the new species)doctor. Soon they embark on a steamy and sizzling relationship
 photo tumblr_mwpsjmspF31rp3ejzo6_400_zps95607e12.gif
- they do a lot of this....geez, these new species guys are totally sexed!!! And of course, totally protective and domineering... photo download2_zpsaf515b4b.jpg
We get to know more about the New Species and the atrocities committed to them, we meet new characters and we get to know more about the ones we met previously and I am kind of getting "lured" into their world.

Loved the banter between Slade & Trisha and between her and the guys guarding her...some hilarious moments and some of the things Smiley & the gang said and did....funny and cute...how they learn new sayings and more about us humans!!

I think I am going to like this series..onto book #3 next!!!

Review: Fury (The New Species Series #1) by Laurann Dohner

Fury (New Species, #1)Fury by Laurann Dohner
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I have just finished reading the entire Breeds Series by Lora Leigh, which I loved and was on the lookout for a similar series. After reading so many glowing series on the New Species Series by Laurann Dohner, I decided to give it a try.

Fury is the first book in the series and gives us an introduction into the world of human/animal experimentation done by the government.

What struck me from the beginning was how so alike it was to the Breeds Series.

Corrupt scientists are creating/testing a new species by splicing human/animal DNA to what is suppose to be helping cure illness in humans but instead are creating fighting machines. When the President is made aware of the truth about the torture and abuse these new beings have gone through and the true nature of the program, he immediately frees them and gives them their own land where they can be free and live peacefully together. These creations who want to be treated as humans live with their nightmares of what was done to them in the labs. Despite the testing ban, there are still scientists out there who refuse to stop their experimentation. The infiltrate their compound constantly and there seems to be no end to these poor beings left alone. Sounds close to the Breeds storyline, doesn’t it????

Anyway, Fury is part human/part dog…huh!!!! He went through a terrible time in the labs – tortured, raped and abused. Ellie is a nurse and is working undercover at the pharmaceutical company labs where

Fury is being held prisoner and experimented on.
Due to her efforts, the species are freed but Fury believes that she had betrayed him in the lab.

When he discovers her working in the Species compound, his mission is to kill her.

I did enjoy the chemistry between the two and some hot scenes, though at times I felt some of the sex scenes were not really necessary. At first, I was unsure about Ellie…did I like her or not!! She did a few things that irritated me but in the end, loved how she fought for Fury and for their love.

A lot happens in this book. We learn about the experiments, meet characters that will be part of the series. I particularly liked Justice & Breeze and I will probably continue this series because of the characters.

Review: Securing the Greek's Legacy by Julia James

Securing the Greek's Legacy (Mills & Boon Modern)Securing the Greek's Legacy by Julia James
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Such a disappointment....and I normally like this author.

The storyline I know I have read it before and if I remember, it was done so much better.

The characters were so wishy-washy.....the heroine totally so not interesting...the whole thing of her childhood and her sister...blah, blah, blah. Where was her backbone??????
And the hero.....geez...couldn't the author find a more sexier name..Anatole...yuck....I really tried to like him because he was quite a nice guy...but in the end...far tooooooooo nice!!!!

I wanted some spark, some connection....but felt nothing there with the h/h...........and the awful grandfather...i wanted to smack him many many times....the only character I adored was the baby, Georgy......

Review: Until Lilly by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Until Lilly (Until, #3)Until Lilly by Aurora Rose Reynolds
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I am really enjoying this series and have been really looking forward to Cash & Lilly’s story…after being left hanging at the end of Until Trevor.

Cash has finally found the woman he has always dreamed of in Lilly and just when things are going well between them, he’s suddenly faced with choosing Lilly or doing the honorable thing by marrying a woman, who he does not love but is pregnant with his child.

Five years later, Cash is divorced and has custody of his adorable son, Jax and on a day trip out together, sees Lilly with a little girl. Unbeknown to him, Lilly was also pregnant the same time as his ex-wife and because of some shenanigans by the ex, he had never known about it.
Their getting together again and having a second chance at finding happiness together was so sweet and lovely. Cash is such a sweetheart, a soft-hearted, kind and caring man and his mission is to make his family happy. photo images3_zps1db02cb0.jpg
I loved the family dynamics in this book. The way the entire Mayson clan stands together and look and care after each other
 photo images10_zps8b839c05.jpg
Just adored the whole lot of them….Asher & November’s three daughters, May, June, July….how awesome is that!!! I loved the family interaction so much.
 photo download1_zps771ca92d.jpg

There were a few things that were a wee bit much too believe…like Lilly in jail for a week!!! And Jax rescuing Ashlyn……..but hey, this is fiction….and the kids were beyond adorable, that it didn’t make a difference to me enjoying this lovely and endearing story.

Oh, before I forget….Cash, you have to watch your mouth in front of the kids……otherwise I will personally do this to you
 photo 4506746_std_zpsb341d404.jpg
. Can’t wait for Nico’s story ….that should be a fabulous one too.!!

Review: Until Trevor by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Until Trevor (Until, #2)Until Trevor by Aurora Rose Reynolds
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Until Series continues the Mayson brothers lives with Trevor now.
November’s best friend, Liz has been in love with Trevor for years. After a non-sex encounter with him, she decides it’s time to move on. And that just gets poor Trevor, another lovely alpha “up in a tizzy!!!”

You see, this very caring man thinks Liz is too innocent for a “male-slut” like him, so he doesn’t want to “deflower” her, even though he’s totally crazy about her.

What follows is a funny and sweet trip the two take to discovering their HEA.
We meet up with the Mayson family again, check out November & Asher too and what’s happening in the little town they all live in.

I didn’t love this story as much as Until November, though I did enjoy Trevor…Liz got a bit on my nerves at times….all this yes, no, yes, no…do I, don’t I…..jeez, girl, just grab him and do it!!!!!!!! And wow, when they get together, some rather hot and spicy things sure do happen!!!!

Nice little surprise at the end…re: the next brother, Cash!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait for his book next.

Review: Until November by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Until November (Until, #1)Until November by Aurora Rose Reynolds
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a nice debut novel and I am sure it will turn out to be a successful series. There have been numerous comments about the editing but it didn’t really impact that much on my enjoyment of this story.

The series starts with Asher, the oldest of the four Mayson brothers, the hottest, gorgeous, and most wanted guys in town!!

Asher is beyond alpha-male – domineering, brash, love them, leave them kind of man but when he first lays eyes on November…he knows SHE’S THE ONE FOR HIM………naturally he lets her know in his own alpha way!!!!

November – loved her name – is not your usual coy and lash-batting bubble. She’s gorgeous, funny, independent, and quirky and gives Asher a run for his money.

I loved their interaction and their dialogue. There were some hilarious moments that made me really smile. I also liked the way Asher cared for November and how sweet and protective he became with her.

Great story line with some suspense involving a stalker that is following November and doing some really crazy things….but nothing too heavy!!!!

Also like the secondary characters and the whole Mayson family vibe and I am looking forward to Trevor’s story next.

Review: The Sheikh's Last Seduction by Jenny Lucas

The Sheikh's Last SeductionThe Sheikh's Last Seduction by Jennie Lucas
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Such a disappointment from one of my favorite M&B authors.
Sharif, who is the emir of some little country in the desert, sees Irene, who is a nanny of sorts, at a wedding they are both attending in Italy somewhere. He’s having his last fling before he marries someone suitable and she’s looking for the man who will love her forever…ooh, aren’t we all!!!!
She plays hard to get…of course she does…she’s a virgin waiting for the perfect man and the gorgeous sheikh’s offers her a job as a companion to his sister in his palace….and before we know it….Irene is whisked off to wonderland to stay in his fab palace photo download_zpse095c826.jpg…oops, sorry that was the palace then, when Sharif took over as Emir at 15…yes 15 YEARS OLD….and built the palace from ashes to this
 photo download2_zpsdb8f3696.jpg

So, here is Irene , living the life of luxury, photo images5_zps26149270.jpg photo images4_zpsc1d4d41a.jpg earning megabucks for a 3 month job, totally in love with Sharif, who loves her too…..but he just can’t do it with her…because he respects her and he has to marry some shrew for political reasons!!! What a sad thing………how could he ever agree to marry some like photo images2_zps5ec40e1c.jpgeven for political gain??????
The guy must be mad….his subjects, including all the palace workers LOVE LOVE Irene…yes, she’s a real great gal….strong minded, caring, loving and wait….she loves his subjects such as much as they do.
 photo images1_zps3e9b47b5.jpg
..NO, I KID YOU NOT!!!
This is like one of those old-fashioned love stories….if you want heat…forget it…there ain’t any…..One of the reviewers mentioned something about it being a bit like reading a Barbara Cartland book…remember those???? Yes, I thought that too!!!!
But don’t despair….you all know that this is a HEA for the h/h…so I guess I am not giving away any spoilers when I tell you that Sharif & Irene finally “do get it together” in all ways…wink wink…u know what I mean……….so, the girl from the wrong tracks in that small town in USA, that are often called “white trash”, meets her prince and lives happily ever after…and oh yes, she has such a kind and loving heart….she gets her trashy Mom and sister sorted out in such a nice way…..Irene is one of those heroine’s that has her heart in the right place and deserved everything she got with her prince!!!
 photo images5_zps2373e5be.jpg
Oh, I gave it a 3 star….because the author took me on a really great tour of Dubai!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Review: A Prize Beyond Jewels by Carole Mortimer

A Prize Beyond Jewels (Mills & Boon Modern)A Prize Beyond Jewels by Carole Mortimer
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

This was such a boring story....and certainly not one of my favourites written by this author.

I am not crazy for Russian heros and even less Russian heroines.....they just don't do it for me.

Nina is the daughter of a rich Russian and they now live in New York.
Raphael aka Rafe is a rich and gorgeous New York Italian....blah blah blah.

 photo images17_zpsb8f1838d.jpg

And then I found myself really struggling to finish the book......very little dialogue..it felt like I was reading an essay!!!

I guess if you a fan of this author, then you might like it.
