Review: Frost Burned (Mercedes Thompson, #7) by Patricia Briggs

Frost Burned (Mercedes Thompson, #7)Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This series is one of the best Paranormal/Urban Fantasy series out there. Patricia Briggs has a wonderful ability to create a world that feels real and is totally believable.

Mercy Thompson as found her place in Adam’s life, even though there are few things that just get to her…
 photo homecoming_zpshizjmxm6.jpg
Frost Burned, the 7th book in the series starts a day after Thanksgiving and Mercy and her stepdaughter, Jesse decide to do some last minute shopping. Unable to contact Adam, they return home to discover that the entire pack has been kidnapped by a group of men posing as federal agents.
It is now up to Mercy to figure out how she can rescue Adam and the pack.

Because of their incredible bond and unique abilities they were able to do things that have not been previously done; she gets into Adam’s body and is able to see what he sees. She will need all her resources, including her growing powers.

I adore Mercy and Adam as a couple…have I said that before??? Truly, their relationship is intense and emotional and I admire the fact that they respect each other – a real team!
 photo unnamed_zpsjeodgsgz.jpg
Their scenes together are unbelievably romantic!!!

The character development continues to surprise me. Something new about them is revealed and it just pulls you in more and more.

The plot is very complex and it’s almost impossible to guess who the villains are until almost at the end.

Another fantastic read.

Review: River Marked (Mercy Thompson, #6) by Patricia Briggs

River Marked (Mercy Thompson, #6)River Marked by Patricia Briggs
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I discovered this series when I read this book and that was it!!! I knew I was going to love reading Mercy Thompson’s adventures!!! And I do love this series!!! I am totally addicted!!

River Marked is the 6th book in the series and it’s quite different to the previous novels as it’s mostly set away from Mercy’s home and a whole new set of characters are introduced, which gives us more information about Mercy’s heritage.

Mercy & Adam are now married and mated and set off on their honeymoon to a secluded camp in the Columbia River area.

, looking forward to spending quiet and relaxing time together….but as we know, something is going to happen where Mercy is around…

There’s something in the river that is killing people and Mercy has some connection to the monster, named River Devil.

Between trying to discover the reason for the killings, she encounters a Native American tribe that knows something about her earlier life. She’s told the identity of her father…..a coyote walker who sees ghosts….

This is a fantastic adventure, filled with new revelations about Mercy and also something new about shape shifters..

I loved the chemistry between Mercy and Adam….

I did enjoy learning about the Native American history, their myths and their customs…it was an added pleasure and hopefully we will see more of them in the next books.

Another well-written story with a great plot and fantastic addition of characters to this amazing fantasy world.

My favorite quote:
“All life is rife with possibilities. Seeds have possibilities, but all their tomorrows are caught by the patterning of their life cycle. Animals have possibilities that are greater than that of a fir tree or a blade of grass. Still, though, for most animals, the pattern of instinct, the patterns of their lives, are very strong. Humanity has a far greater range of possibilities, especially the very young. Who will children grow up to be? Who will they marry, what will they believe, what will they create? Creation is a very powerful seed of possibility.”

We continue following Mercy’s life and the world that she lives in…trouble always follows her as she throws herself into saving or helping her friends.

This story goes deeper into the secretive and dark and dangerous fae world….
Mercy has something that the fae want back – a book she had borrowed from a fae friend, who is in danger because of that. She finds herself being contacted by the Fae Queen, demanding the return of their valuable book…

I love the chemistry between Adam and Mercy. Their connection is unbreakable and I like seeing their relationship grow instead of having that insta-love thing.

The world building and the characters are so well developed that makes it so real and believable.

If there’s one thing you can be sure of getting from the remarkable and talented writer, Karina Halle, is that you are going to be blown away by her storytelling!! And who cannot get excited when we see the titles of her books…unique, gorgeous….Where Sea Meets Sky, Love in English and now we have Racing the Sun!!!!

AMAZING!!

Besides loving the book title, there was so much more about her latest novel that just totally grabbed me!

The author has a way of interweaving the most incredible and vivid imagery of her settings that take you to the places as seen through the characters eyes. This is a true talent and no one does it better than her. The setting of Capri is one of the main characters in this book and it becomes alive and jumping out from the pages…
 photo 3f47d68dbf32cda3f5ed0a1fd289fe00_zpsezs5opvd.jpg photo unnamed_zpsyhump3il.jpg
A lot of research has gone into the setting and by the end of the book…it was like …I have been on a trip to this place…and I love it!!! And what could be more romantic than the name of the villa in Capri that plays a big role in the story…..
 photo download202_zpsn5jrnki1.jpg
Romantic, mysterious and the evocative smell of lemons…….stunning!!

This is a beautiful and unforgettable story of finding yourself and how love can heal two broken people.

Amber MacLean……I fell in love with her instantly…..

I loved how their relationship developed from friendship to love….the emotional tension was intense and passionate and sexy!!!

All the characters were endearing and so believable….I could relate to them and their fears and joy, their everyday lives…..their development over the pages made me feel as if they were friends and not some strangers. I wanted to be part of their lives.

Loved the dialogue with the Italian phrases thrown in. Who can resist a gorgeous Italian man whispering “amore” , “ti amo” in your ear!

This is a story about love, loss, triumphs, pain, joy, fears ….and so much more. It’s about having the courage to taking a chance in finding happiness in your life.

This story ended too soon for me. When I was reading the epilogue, I kept thinking….please don’t end yet!!! And yes, we have the last glimpse of Derio and Amber together, which made me happy!!

Thank you Karina Halle for this beautiful, inspiring and unforgettable story!

Review: Iron Kissed (Mercy Thompson, #3) by Patricia Briggs

Iron Kissed (Mercy Thompson, #3)Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The 3rd book in the enchanting Mercy Thompson Series and the more I get to like Mercy….
 photo alpha-couples-1-mercy-adam_zps5dhu9jsu.jpg
This is an intense and emotional story.

Mercy becomes involved in some dangerous things when she becomes involved in the fae world and politics in her quest to save her former mentor and fae, Zee. Filled with nerve-wracking moments, suspense and tension – you just can’t wait for turning the next page to finding out what happens now!!! You kept guessing until the very end and it’s certainly not what you expect!!

The world building continues growing and it’s becoming more and more interesting with all the different characters.

We finally get to see Mercy making up her mind about the man she really loves…and I was beyond happy with her decision!!!!

A great and fabulous read.

Review: Fair Game (Alpha & Omega, #3) by Patricia Briggs

Fair Game (Alpha & Omega, #3)Fair Game by Patricia Briggs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The prologue of this book hooked me right into the mystical and magical world that Patricia Briggs has created in her Alpha and Omega Series, where we meet a new character, FBI agent and a human named Leslie Fisher, who plays a huge role in this story. I fell in love with her immediately….
“Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Leslie.”
A big part of why I love this series is Charles & Anna. They have a strong bond and complement each other. But Charles is struggling with his demons and past and instead of facing them and working through them with Anna,
 photo download203_zps2lmnsfbm.jpg
he keeps his feelings secret from her because he thinks he will lose her if he tells her, which causes him distancing himself from her…he’s afraid of hurting her and thinks he’s not good enough for some so good and kind
 photo download202_zpsbyk5tfee.jpg

I felt for Charles and all his pain and unsure and uncertain about his past and whilst I wanted to scream at him a few times....communicate please!!!!
 photo 1303795-bigthumbnail_zpsqhps8gyv.jpg
But Anna won’t give up on Charles. She will do everything to help him deal with his ghosts.

She asks Bran, Charles’s father for help. To give Charles a break from his duties as his enforcer, he sends him and Anna to Boston to assist the FBI in finding a serial killer.

There a few POV’s which give us an insight into the lives of the different characters – how each character perceives their world and the people they meet. It’s interesting how we see ourselves and how others see us and vice versa. I really liked that aspect in the story.

Although there’s not a lot of Charles and Anna romance due to the way Charles is dealing with his problems, there are still some really lovely scenes between them…

I am really excited about this series and can’t wait for the next book.

Review: Blood Bound (Mercy Thompson, #2) by Patricia Briggs

Blood Bound (Mercy Thompson, #2)Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blood Bound, the 2nd book in Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson Series is just as good as the 1st book, Moon Called.

Mercy Thompson is a heroine that I absolutely love.
 photo 70e421a2f09960327c590d007e5c076c_zpsxmw2qj8t.jpg
She has the qualities I admire – strengths and flaws and not afraid to face the obstacles in her life.
 photo hqdefault_zpsr55ldagn.jpg
She is evolving and discovering her power…..
 photo quote-in-this-dream-i-wasn-t-a-coyote-shapeshifter-trying-to-hold-a-werewolf-i-was-coyote-patricia-briggs-50-68-64_zpstyrbdfdt.jpg
The plot revolves around Mercy being asked by Stefan, her vampire friend, to help him hunt down a vampire/sorcerer in league with a demon and a danger to the people she cares and loves. Even though Mercy feels torn between helping Stefan and perhaps betraying her friends, she can’t refuse someone who has stood by her and helped her in the past.

Mercy’s attraction towards Adam are is undeniable…
 photo 0dbc7c7a990c594c5c048f6bafff3651_zpsorideb9n.jpg
and she is conflicted further by her feelings for Samuel, the werewolf from her past and Stefan, her vampire friend. I love the chemistry and tension between Mercy and Adam and I am hoping that they will eventually become a couple.

The story is fast paced and moves rapidly as we learn more about the characters in Mercy’s world and their politics.

I loved this book and I am totally hooked on the series.

Review: Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs

Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1)Moon Called by Patricia Briggs
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was super happy to discover a new PNR series and after reading Patricia Briggs 1st book in her Mercy Thompson series….I was beyond happy…excited more like it!!!!
Mercy Thompson –
 photo 9bf9d5109049c1e3c7a95a5e17c9aef7_zpsgqnhwmio.jpg
a natural born coyote shape shifter, auto mechanic and owner of a garage, sensible, together, strong and independent, lives in the Tri-Cities are of Washington, amidst a world of humans and supernaturals – vampires, walkers, werewolves, fey, witches…..

The storyline revolves around the murder of a young boy, employed by Mercy, who tells her, before he’s killed that he had been turned unwillingly and that this a secret party carrying out experiments on werewolves. When Adam Hauptman her next door neighbor and leader of the local wolf-pack is attacked and his daughter kidnapped, Mercy takes matters into her own hands…despite Adam being a bit of a twit of a neighbor…
 photo c017caf1580155bd291158468ec9f213_zpsr1rleouo.jpg
Mercy takes him to the Marrok…leader of all wolf-packs in North America, asking for help.

Whilst there’s not much of a romance story here, I think that the triangle between Mercy, Samuel and Adam is going to develop in a way I am not sure how. For me, I hope its Adam…Mercy does feel a thing for this sexy and hot werewolf
 photo TDS_light_window_zpsrjjv02m3.jpg
An interesting and believable plot with characters that are appealing and sympathetic and relatable, suspense and mystery, surprises and red herrings that are totally unexpected when revealed.

I really like the world building the author has created and she manages to bring something fresh and new ideas into the PNR world.
