A lousy day

Spent the whole day waiting for the famous ESKOM to bring back THE LIGHTS to our shop. The whole area had no power the whole day and eventually closed the store by 8pm after waiting and hoping something would happen....but NO...
When is ESKOM going to get it right!!!!!!!!! It's a disgrace......every day we hear about power shortages, shutdowns....and they get away with it....even though they charge us such high rates...................
it's not as if it only happens once in a while....but it has become a daily occurrence...........
hopefully tomorrow we will SEE SOME LIGHT....

REVIEW: LOVER UNBOUND by JR Ward

Lover Unbound is the 5th book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward. 
I have read all the previous books in the series and have mixed feelings about Vishous. His conflicting feelings towards Butch….which he hates himself for turned me off him a bit in the previous books. 
So I was really happy when he found Jane, a doctor who saved his life and he falls in love with her. .….enough of his pining over Butch….funny how fast he falls in love even when he has such an intense lust for Butch!!!! But hey, this is just a story…right!!!!! 
As I got more into the story, my feelings towards Vishous slowly began to change. What a broken man. A life filled with pain, cruelty, heartbreak, loss and loneliness . Discovering the truth about his birth, his mother (who put a curse on him) and terrible father (who tortured and almost castrated him)….I really felt so sorry for this guy….. No wonder he led such a depraved life….multiple sex with both men and women, indulging in S&M in his belief that it was the only way to deal with pain. 
Of course Jane falls in love with this hot, gorgeous and sexy man. And he….well he’s attracted to her brain and body of course!!!!! And she is an eager initiator to his sexual games and toys!!!!!! 
The only thing I really didn’t like …………..Why did Jane have to die???? Somehow her coming back as a ghost (thanks to the sacrifice Vishous made…..couldn’t his mother, the Scribe Virgin get her back as a human….she is after all a deity!!!!!). 
After everything Vishous has endured in his life, he is still short-changed. I wanted to see him having some good given to him…but no……he has to do with the woman he loves in the form of a ghost!!!!!! How much more can this guy endure!!!!!! 
There’s a lot happening in this story… more wicked Lessers. Phury’s depression and secret love and pining for Bella, Zhadist’s (his brother) wife, his offer to become Primale to the Chosen…..will he and Cormia, a beautiful innocent Chosen get it together>>….what will the Scribe Virgin do next???? …is John Mathews really into Xhex???? And yes I knew all along….John Mathews is he Darius’s son or incarnation???? And when are Qhuinn & Blaylock going to get it together???? Gay warriors….wow…how are the other alpha warriors going to take this I wonder????? 
Guess I will have to wait for the next book!!!!!!!

REVIEW: LOVER REVEALED by JR Ward

 
After meeting Butch O’Neil, a tired, hard drinking, burnt-out cop and Marissa, an aristocratic vampire in the first book of this series, Dark Lover, I was looking forward to reading their story. 
I love Butch….his love for designer clothes, his relationship with the Brotherhood – he has given up his old life and since discovering their secret when he helped Wrath and his wife Beth, is living with the warriors. I like the interaction between human and vampire. He becomes very close to Vishous…..whilst I liked the bond the two had I really didn’t want them to become lovers…I became a bit irritated by the romantic feelings Vishous displayed towards Butch….I wanted Butch to finally get the girl he craved for…Marissa. Thankfully he does…although I do like Vishous….don’t get me wrong. 
Butch and Marissa have to overcome so many obstacles before the finally get together…..the interference by her brother, his capture and torture by the Lessers, his turning into a vampire not knowing if he would survive it. Marissa is a kind, innocent woman who finally meets the man who changes her life. 
Their story is tender and warm….at times I did want to feel more passion and intensity between the two….I mean….the scenes between Butch and Vishous…geez …hot and sexy………..but as I said before…..I am glad the author changed her mind….and we did not have a Butch & Vishous couple!!!!!! I am sure we will get a story about two warriors in love in the future. 
And wow ….the characters…Omega, The Scribe Virgin…. I liked reading more about John, Revhenge…what a fab guy….bad and gorgeous…Xhex…what an amazing character…was reminded of Xenia, the woman warrior……can’t wait to read their stories!!!! 

REVIEW: LOVER AWAKENED by JR Ward

Lover Awakaned is the 3rd book in the Dark Series by JR Ward and they just keeping getting better and better. I loved this book. Left me breathless
This is the story of Zhadist, who we met in the two previous books, is the tortured, emotionally and physically scarred member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood and I was not really sure if I liked him or not. He was mean, ugly and who could possibly like him I thought!!! How could Bella, a beautiful aristocratic vampire possibly be attracted to him????
Being the next book in the series …by this time being totally addicted…I opened page 1…and ….by chapter 2 …..I was enthralled….I couldn’t stop reading……I finished in one day.
There is so much emotion, love, sacrifice, tenderness and the most erotic love scenes……
Tore my heart when reading about Zhadist’s life….being kidnapped and used as a sex slave for years, the torture he endured before being rescued by his twin brother, Phury, who sacrificed so much to find his brother and the devotion between the two is absolutely incredible. Almost made me cry reading about it.
So here is this man who shows only hatred, can’t bear to be touched finally meeting a woman, who sees in him more than the scars but what lies underneath his skin.
After being rescued from her kidnapping by a lesser by Zhadist, Bella realizes that he is the only man for her. She brings out the best in him….tenderness, love, loyalty……..she believes in him and the goodness within.
Their love story is unforgettable……romantic… sexy…hot, erotic love scenes between the two….
In between you learn more about the other Brotherhood characters…previous ones and some which you know are going to have their own story.

LOVE MORCHEEBA

       

    

The first time I heard Morcheeba was at my friend, Simone Oertel’s house around 1998. “The Sea”, from their second CD “Big Calm” was playing and I was totally stunned!!!! The exciting sounds of guitars, violins and the awesome, sexy, smooth, sultry and cool voice of Skye Edwards….I WAS ON A  PSYCHEDELIC GROOVE!!!!  

Amazing….reggae, trip hop, jazz, r&b, funk all fused together creating an unique sound that is truly MORCHEEBA. I read something, somewhere that kind of explains my feelings about this band  “This is the kind of music  that musters up that same asthetic feeling you get when you look at a Monet for the first time”….  A spell had been cast on me!!!!!!!

I WAS ENTHRALLED….i wanted to listen to their music over and over and the next day went out and bought their first CD, “Who can you Trust?”

For the next few months all I played and listened to was MORCHEEBA. I clearly remember driving down Ocean Drive in Cape Town, the sea to my right, the mountains to the left, listening to THE SEA and feeling my fingertips and toes TINGLING!!!!!!! 

IF YOU DON’T OWN AT LEAST ONE OF THEIR CD’S…GO OUT AND GET ONE AND LISTEN TO IT…..YOU WILL BE HOOKED!!!!!

Their 7^th  CD which came out last year “Blood Like Lemonade” is breathtaking. The title song is about a vampire who drinks lemonade and has been used in one of the episodes of True Blood TV series.

I was obsessed with their music. Read up on everything about the band, Skye Edwards. I even travelled to London – a 3 day trip…with my husband, my son Zak, my friend Simone and her daughter Jade just so we could go to their concert at Shepherd’s Bush…………MEMORABLE…… I loved Sky Edwards….

The band has been on a world tour this year…..so sad it did not include South Africa….but who knows…maybe one day????

The word "morcheeba" is meant to indicate "the way of cannabis". This originated from "MOR"—middle of the road; plus "Cheeba"—informal name of cannabis.^[4]

  Skye Edwards (born Shirley Klaris Yonavieve Edwards, 27 May 1972) is a British singer-songwriter, born in East London. Her career began in 1994 when she and the Godfrey brothers (DJ Paul Godfrey and multi-instrumentalist Ross Godfrey) formed the bandMorcheeba, which released five albums with Skye as lead vocalist. When Skye parted from the band in 2003, she released two solo albums: Mind How You Go in 2006, and Keeping Secrets in 2009. Edwards returned to Morcheeba as lead vocalist In 2010.

Edwards decided to shorten her name to Skye by taking the first letter of each of her names and putting them together. She is married to bass player Steve Gordon and they have three children. Edwards has sung on two charity collaborations, Perfect Day 1997, in aid ofChildren in Need and Band Aid 20, in 2004, in aid of famine relief in Sudan, Africa.

Chilling Out on Sunday Night

Chilling out after a day at my store......all those fish and chips, calamari and chips....prawns and chips flying out........still thinking about the fish roll I ate last night.....wow.....just thinking about it must me want to go back, open up and make one for tonite.....nah....think will just carry on hanging out with my darling Costa........oh boy someone is having a fabulous time at the party across the road from me...in the local St Luke's Church Hall.....actually the music is really amazing.....african....sounds like from Mali or Congo.....and from the sounds of people shouting.....they are really enjoying it..............
Elna Quick who is married to a SAA Captain Paul Quick....I flew with both of them in my days as an SAA golden girl....came into the shop tonite....haven't seen her for almost 20 years....i surprised myself....i remembered her and her name....i guess i won't be suffering from a loss of memory!!!!!! Yesterday another colleague....Louise Farrell.....it's getting like a meeting point with all my old SAA friends and colleagues!!!!!
     even Barbie wanted to be a flight attendant........so cool...............
Oh....silence....has the party ended??????? No I hear some screams, cars hooting.....i guess it's winding up....

REVIEW: LEFT TO DIE by Lisa Jackson

LEFT TO DIE

  We are introduced to a pair of female detectives, Selena Alvarez with some dark secrets and Regan Pescoli, a divorced mother of two teenagers who give her endless grief. 

Set in the cold winter weather of the desolate mountains of Montana, a serial killer is setting up car accidents for women driving in secluded roads and leaving them to die tied up to trees. 
Jillian Rivers narrowly manages to escape the killer when she is rescued by Zane McGregor, a mysterious loner and she feels a growing attraction to him. But what if he is the killer??? 

The suspense is nail-biting. And the ending….well the serial killer is not found though Jillian and Zane go off into the sunset totally in love. 

A cliffhanger……have to read the next book…..what happens to Regan????? 

REVIEW: DARK LEGEND by Christine Feehan

 I have a secret…….when it comes to reading books …it’s like living with OCD….you know…obsessive compulsive disorder!!!!! If I start reading the first book in a series I have to read them all……what a luck that my friend gave me the first 12 or 13 books in the Dark Series….which I finished reading nonstop for the next two weeks….and before I reached book 12, I had in my possession the entire series (after doing a web search to find where they could be bought!!!). 
Hunger…that’s what I felt……turning each page, reading the next book….I had to know more about these amazing characters……. 

With each new book, I discover new exciting, interesting characters…….the books just keeping getting better and better. 

DARK LEGEND is the 8th book in Christine Feehan’s Dark Series where we meet the ancient Carpathians, twin brothers Gabriel and Lucian Daratraznoff, who were thought to be dead. 
Gabriel had injured Lucian who had turned to the other side…i.e. became a vampire during a battle and to protect their people and all humankind buried them both until Gabriel could decide if he could really kill the brother he loved and cared for so much. 

Thousands of years later, Gabriel is awakened from their burial place in a Paris cemetery and knows he has to find his brother before he goes on a killing spree. He discovers a different world from the one he knew and whilst looking for someone to feed his hunger, meets Francesca del Ponce, a beautiful, talented healer has dedicated her life to helping the sick and poor living in the streets.

We are taken to a magical world filled with characters we know and introduced to new ones. Skyler, who becomes the ward of Gabriel and Francesca, breaks your heart….the cruelty and suffering she has seen and felt…..there’s is definitely a story about her……a dark mystery…. 
We briefly meet Lucian and there is that twist to the brother’s lives…..is Lucien really a vampire? Will Gabriel have to kill his own brother? 

This is a touchingly romantic book filled with passion, love, anguish, pain, sexy, erotic and belief in the people you love. 
I can’t wait for the next book. 

REVIEW: DARK FIRE by Christine Feehan

By the time I started reading Dark Fire, the 6^th book in Christine Feehan’s Dark Series, I was hooked…..the Carpathians are just beyond amazing…..Never mind that there is a huge amount of repetition and I know….some of the descriptions the author uses are a bit over the top…..check….velvet sheath….but nothing can change my mind….I am totally addicted to these books.

This is my favourite book so far…..of course it may change as I continue reading the next book in this series.

Darius , is who we discovered is related to the Carpathian healer, Gregori has been taking care of his family since he was a little boy. He is mysterious, seriously hot, and feels responsible for looking after his family…..And he has some real amazing talents…like…….shape shifting, talking  to animals …read and control minds…call them superpowers!!!!

Tempest aka Rusti, who is human ,has been hired by Darius’s sister, Desari, the lead  singer in the band, Dark Troubadours,(don’t you just love the name!!!!) as their mechanic during the band’s tour.  Derius, close to turning into an evil vampire realizes he’s  finally met his  true life mate , the only person who can stop this from happening.  What a lovable heroine…..trouble follows her wherever she goes, she’s gutsy and funny.

The story is so romantic…..the way Derius loves and cherishes Rusti….the lovemaking is sensual…hot…..

I liked the way he didn’t try to force her but rather waited for her to make the choice to become his life mate. Gentle and understanding…..quite different to the Carpathian males in the previous books.

The band tour, the leopards who travel with the band, the other members…Syndil, Barrack..(can’t wait to read their story), the whole scenes of their concerts, travelling buses…..I really got into that……

Looking forward to reading book 7
