Allright, we are now at book #13 in Christine Feehan's GhostWalkers Series with her latest, Power Game. You probably wondering my confused "look"........let me explain!!!

This series started off with soldiers that were enhanced with super powers, then progressed to enhancements mixing human DNA with animal DNA....and young girls who were used as experiments by the madman scientist, Peter Whitney....we now have human DNA mixed with spiders/snakes....and now, the heroine, Bellisia with octopus DNA!!! Hell, what next!!!

So, Bellisia aka Bella and Ezekiel aka Zeke's story is a bit better than the last few books I have read by CF.

What made it work for me:

Bella.....I like her....she was such an engaging and lovable character....wanting to find love in her life!! Her interactions between the GhostWalkers was really endearing......the family vibe was great - and the scenes, especially the cooking lessons with Nonny were funny and cute.

I also liked Ezekiel.........he wasn't a sexist and controlling ass@$#le...He was caring and giving towards Bella which was something better than some of the male characters in this series.

Secondary characters.......wow, the triplets.......totally captivating!!! I adored these three little girls....

Whilst I liked this book more than the previous two or three, it still didn't "rock" my world. I find that there is a lot of repetition....I want to taste you...I want you....Open up for me!!!!!

I feel something is missing in this series...can't put my finger on what exactly.........it needs an injection of something or other....but whatever it is.......unless it happens...I am not sure if I will continue reading this series.

Is Christine Feehan getting bored? Really, her last few books have left me feeling.............something like this........

Spider Game is the 12th book in her GhostWalkers Series - so what did I think of Cayenne and Trap's story??

Firstly, the main character's names......really!!! Cayenne & Trap!!!

But that's not the only reason why I found this story to be yet another....

I found Cayenne to be a pretty cool heroine....she was kickass - (that's the reason for 1,5 stars instead of 1) well in the beginning.......but then, what the hell happened to her!!!! Letting the hero, old Trap walk all over her!!!

Now, let's continue with Trap!!! What a d@##$khead!!! The way he treated Cayenne was beyond despicable.....here I was hoping that he would become a bit better...but no........he continues to be the ass@@@@@le........why she stuck around with him was beyond comprehension.

I am also becoming a bit bored with all the repetitive sex scenes....which crop up at the most unexpected times....

Anyway, I will probably read the next book in the series..........with the hope that just maybe....the next will be an awesome one!!!

Runner by Patrick Lee is the 1st in Sam Dryden Series and it's also the first book I've read by this author.

An action packed thriller with a bit of paranormal thrown in.

A lot happens in the first part of the story but then the plot becomes so implausible and beyond far-fetched....I "eye rolled" a couple of times.........all these gadgets and bad guys chasing around.........that's the reason why I didn't give it a full 3star rating!!

I did like Sam Dryden, the main character but there were so many secondary characters that made my head "spin".

By the time I reached the last page......I thought......

Whilst I didn't hate this book..............I didn't exactly love it and I am not sure if I will read any other books by this author.

A Lot Like Love is the first book I've read by this author, Julie James and I am definitely going to be reading more of her books in the future.

This was such a fabulous contemporary love story with a bit of suspense thrown in...........leaving me with a warm, fuzzy and good feeling!!!

There were so many things I liked about this story......let me tell you a few of them!!

The two main characters.............such a great and engaging couple!!!
FBI agent Nick McCall..........what a hero!!! Sexy, yes!!Alpha, yes!! But not an overbearing ass.@@@@....I adored him.....open minded, caring......he's the kind of man I love..........

Heiress and Businesswoman Jordan Rhodes....what a breath of fresh air she turned out to be. Not some neurotic and spoilt heiress but a funny, independent, hardworking, caring and down to earth person...she felt so real and I found her endearing and so engaging - and how could one not fall in love with her...

I liked seeing their relationship and sexual tension building up and the chemistry was potent....and the sex scenes were pretty hot and well written.
The dialogue is fun and witty.....

“He raised an eyebrow. ‘Wine with cheese fries? No thanks.’
‘Wine with everything. Because wine means the responsible part of the day is over.’”

Some quirky and engaging secondary characters.....I especially loved Jordan's brother, Kyle.......what a hoot!!! Can't wait to read his own book!!

The writing is so good....flows beautifully making it such easy reading.

Fun plot....emphasis on romance more than suspense. Loved reading the parts about wine and the vineyards that Jordan and Nick visit in Napa Valley.....hell, I admit, I learnt a few things about wine!!!!

“Time for Wine Tasting 101.
“So here’s how this works. When tasting a wine, as opposed to casual drinking, there are four basic steps you need to remember: sight, smell, taste, then spit or swallow.”
Nick paused at that last part and cocked his head. “And your personal preference on the latter would be…?”
“Only lightweights spit.”
His right eye twitched.”

If you love contemporary romance that makes you "feel good"...then this is a book for you. I am definitely going to be checking out more books by Julie James.

and liking them both so much, I really wanted to love this one. Sadly I found I couldn't love it....not even liking it!!!

I found the premise - office romance - interesting - it was the characters that turned me totally off this story!!! I found none likable...never mind the two mc's.....even the secondary characters were kind of bleh!!!

Dante Damaso, the hero and boss is the most despicable guy......now, I like alpha males...but this guy takes it to a level that I find totally unacceptable. He shows no respect to the heroine - rude, obnoxious....awful...awful.....horrible...horrible.....check out what he says the day after he's slept with his PA, the heroine....

“He sighed before putting his tablet aside. “Chloe,” he said, keeping his voice low so the driver couldn’t hear them. “Last night was just to relieve some of the stress of the day; you know that, right? I don’t usually fuck my employees. Too damned messy.” And quite frankly, he didn’t relish the potential sexual-harassment lawsuits from disgruntled sexual partners in the workplace, but he didn’t tell her that.

Just blew my mind!!!

Cleopatra Pandora Knight, the heroine and PA to A@#$$hole boss, Dante......at first, I kind of liked her....she showed a bit of spunk...but then she suddenly discovers she has the hots for the boss and all reason and sanity goes out the door....never mind his behaviour after their first time f@#$$$ck!!!

“Thanks, Chloe. I needed that.” His voice was slurred. He sounded like a very drunk or very tired man, and the gentle snore that followed a mere second later confirmed the latter fact.
Cleo sighed, trying not to be completely demoralized by the fact that this man, whom she had known for nearly four frickin’ months, had just called her by the wrong name.

Does his behaviour stop her from going back for "seconds?"..........Not in a million years!!!! Ooooh, she keeps going back for more and more abuse!!!!

No matter what verbal abuse he flings at her..........

“ “Are you coming on to me?” he hissed. “Wasn’t one night enough for you? If you want more than that, you need but say it. But don’t expect anything other than sex from me. Just because you’re Luc’s sister doesn’t automatically entitle you to more than that. Once we get this deal out of the way, we can fuck again if that’s what you want, but it will never be more than that. Entender? Understand?”

she continues to be a sucker for punishment!!!

There's no respect shown by either of them........

“Distasteful? Who the hell did she think she was? Better women than she would kill for the chance of a love affair with him . . . and why the hell was he even offended? She was nothing more than his employee. His very annoying and very temporary employee. So they’d had a little lapse in judgment. So what? Shit like that happened all the time. Not to him, but there was a first time for everything.

I couldn't understand how they could have any kind of relationship....in fact, I couldn't feel any chemistry between these two.

So, after their Tokyo trip, it's back home to Cape Town....and the sh#$$$t continues!!! Suddenly Cleopatra finds herself pregnant with Dante's baby...see, there's no safety in condoms!!! And when she tells him......OMG....his reaction is beyond appalling!!!

But wait.....if his behaviour is inexcusable........then hers is even more so when she discusses her pregnant situation!! First, she thinks she might have an abortion...then wait...no, she will have the baby and give it up for adoption...some more wait...she feels the baby kick....and now....OOOOOOHHH...she wants the baby...she loves the baby!!!!

By this time, I am totally "off" Cleopatra!!!

When we get to the part where "something" really not so good happens to these two.....

...where I should be feeling a bit sad and sorry for them.......where I should be showing some sympathy for their "loss".................what happens????

I found it really hard, excruciating and frustrating to finish reading this. Turning the last page.........at last...THE END!!!!

I know there are a lot of other readers who liked this book...but for me....just missed the "mark". However, I am looking forward to reading another book by this author and hopefully is going to be a good one!!!

I'm not sure why I am continuing with this series!!!! Perhaps it's because I have been a diehard fan of Iris Johansen for years and years.........but I am not crazy about the Kendra Michaels series that she co-writes with her son. The first book, Close Your Eyes, https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... was okay and I hated the second book, Sight Unseen,

Well, the 3rd book in the series, The Naked Eye, was an improvement on the previous two...but not exactly AMAZING...either!!

There were so many things that just didn't do it for me........but I am going to rather write about what I liked....

I found Sam, the computer genius and Kendra's friend and Beth, Eve Duncan's half-sister so much more engaging than the other characters in this book.

I am still on the fence about Kendra....just when I begin to feel a bit of warmth for her....she does something that makes me want to kick her butt!!! I find her so not flexible and open ....especially when it comes to Adam Lynch!!! I wish she would make up her mind about him instead of giving him a hard time and keeping him handing on!!!

The plot was pretty clever and fast-paced...... despite me thinking at times that it was a bit far-fetched.

I am a total sucker for punishment because I am going to read the follow-up book......see, I have to know what happens next!!!

The Hunter is the debut book and the 1st in Tom Wood's Victor the Assassin Series.

The series revolves around Victor, a ruthless and deadly but actually rather a nice guy who just happens to kill people for money......a freelance assassin, with no past and no home, a loner - the total antihero hitman.

Carrying out his latest assignment in Paris, he finds himself being chased across Europe by killers who have been assigned to take him out.

Pursued by enemies............CIA, Russian SVR, MI6, French Secret Service...he has to use all his talents to keep ahead of them and try to find out who wants him dead and why.

Victor goes from being the hunter to now being the hunted!!!

Non-stop action.............guns, shoot-outs, good guys, bad guys......Explosive car chases,

.... action packed with nail-biting fighting and shooting sequences

.........a total frenzy of kill or be killed!!!!

What I found interesting was how the author created such an likeable and appealing hero.........this is a man who kills for money and yet I found something human in him.

Most of the secondary characters are not very likeable.....arms dealers, killers, double agents.........

Jason Bourne, Jack Bauer and Jack Reacher - Victor is all three of them in one!!!! This is a guy I want to find out more about...........so having enjoyed meeting Victor, I am now going onto his next adventure/assignment .....The Enemy.

Now, is E.L. James a clever writer or not!!!! Did we actually need this book??? Of course not!! GREY is exactly the same book as Fifty Shades of Grey and the earliest section of Fifty Shades Darker ..there's only one difference.........let me tell you more...

It's time for us to get Christian Grey's very own POV............oh....we gonna find out what makes this guy tick!!!!
Never mind that it's the exact same dialogue.... that we get to read the legal contract ....again.........we get to check out all the emails that we have read before...........so why do we go out and pay for something we have read before????

Because we are totally besotted with Christian Grey.......well, I am............. If it wasn't for him......would I have continued turning the pages!!!! Not sure....because right now....Anastasia Steele is not on my favourite heroines list!!! I was reminded again of how much she irritated me in FSOG.....

.........Listen up Christian...give her up...I am so much more interesting.......in fact, I am fully committed to being his girlfriend...

Grey is not the worst book I’ve ever read - I wanted to read it when I heard about it....and I am happy I did..............will I read it again???? Probably not!!! Or maybe I will in twenty years time!!!!!!!
But honestly........Christian Grey may be egotistical, OCD.....and all those other things....but hey.....

So, I'm off to go on a "flip" with my CG...........

PS.......Not wanting to be "beaten" up by some of the FSOG 'Non-Fans".........can I admit that I liked the FSOG movie...and ...let me say it softly....have watched it a couple of time!!! Okay, time to go!!!
