SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE...CAN'T WAIT

Hotting up in the city...........soon it will be covered by the purple colours of the jacaranda trees...my favourite time in Johannesburg.

Sitting on my patio, looking out into the garden...colours, more colours....blooming roses, lilies, huge ferns with the leaves moving slowly in the cool breeze, birds singing, blue pool, blue skies, dogs barking in the distance..........so relaxing....wow...a small yellow lemon on my very ancient lemon tree.......forget working....forget all your worries.....suddenly i am struck with the memory of the song SUMMERTIME.....and the living is easy...........

I feel energized.........i can't believe i haven't written any reviews on the so mamy books I have read the in past few months..........so with this new "energy".......i am going to get into it.......before having to dash off to...where else....no, not to my dream shack on a small greek island but to WORK..........yes JIMMY'S here I come...soon....

So check out some pics of summer in the city, listen to some summer music........and have fun and enjoy the moment...

SUMMERTIME

Love this song by Ella Fitzgerald...........
Summertime and the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high
Oh, your daddy's rich and your ma is good-lookin'
So hush, little baby; don't you cry

One of these mornings you're gonna rise up singing
And you'll spread your wings and you'll take to the sky
But till that morning, there ain't nothin' can harm you
With daddy and mammy standin' by

One of these mornings you're gonna rise up singing
And you'll spread your wings and you'll take to the sky
But till that morning, there ain't nothin' can harm you
With daddy and mammy standin' by

A new learning curve

Wow...haven't found a spare minute in the past week....hectic hectic time!!!! Been trying to have a new haircut...no time....watch Breaking Dawn...no time....now that tells you something!!!  For me not to make a plan to see and hear Edward Cullen has to mean something serious in my life!!!! Never had anything stopped me from being one of the first to see the previous Twilight movies and now.....there's something weird going on in my life!!!!!! Nah...nothing like that....just finding each day going by faster and faster....Why is it that when I was 15 I couldn't wait to be 21....time moved so slowly for me...and now...I want ....time to slow down....don't go so fast....Crazy.....
So here I am...2am....blogging, checking book reviews on other blogs and trying to write my own reviews on the books I have read in the last few weeks....yes I did find time to read....a lot of time....i just love getting into bed with a book....and most times read until the last page...which of course gives me just a few hours to close my eyes and rest my body.....it's like I want to read everything now....not tomorrow, not next year....well the following year because right now there are only 22 days left in 2011...........my god....how did I get here so fast!!!!!!
The last three weeks have been somewhat nerve-wracking, unexpected, surprising and nothing like I thought I would be at .......it has been a challenge for me.....doing something so different to what I have ever done....but exciting at the same time......creating something new!!!! And working together with my husband for the very first time.....now that is something awesome.......finding ourselves together 24 hours a day....and actually liking it....IT'S REALLY A GREAT FUN TIME.....
Our store in Birnam, Jimmy's KFC is really going well. We love meeting people and offering an amazing time to all our customers....lots of hard work, laughter, and best of all,,,,,,enjoying it.
Costa is totally amazed ......imagine...ordering 4 tons of POTATOES in the last three weeks...now that is something!!!!!!! Yes, these are what makes THAT PERFECT CHIP

A lousy day

Spent the whole day waiting for the famous ESKOM to bring back THE LIGHTS to our shop. The whole area had no power the whole day and eventually closed the store by 8pm after waiting and hoping something would happen....but NO...
When is ESKOM going to get it right!!!!!!!!! It's a disgrace......every day we hear about power shortages, shutdowns....and they get away with it....even though they charge us such high rates...................
it's not as if it only happens once in a while....but it has become a daily occurrence...........
hopefully tomorrow we will SEE SOME LIGHT....

the perfect chip

Episode image for Chipsthe perfect chip @Jimmy's Killer Fish & Chips....learning the secret of how to make it...that's what I spent doing today!!!!!!
As my new business venture is in the business of offering this much loved item  to our  customers, I decided to learn a bit more about chips and why the world likes eating them.

"What I say is that, if a man really likes potatoes, he must be a pretty decent sort of fellow," wrote A. A. Milne, creator of Winnie the Pooh.
The word “chips” appears in Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities (1859)
A good chip makes a man feel more charitable to the whole world than any sermon; a good chip is loved by everybody
Fish and chips became the traditional meal among the working classes in Great Britain. In 1860, the first fish and chips shop was opened in London by Joseph Malin.
Jimmy’s Killer Fish & Chips opened its first store in Mint Street, Fordsburg in May 2011.
So what makes our chips so amazing?????
Freshly cut potatoes every day. Crisp skin, golden brown in colour, a light fried flavor. Soft inner texture. And a sprinkle of salt, a sprinkle of Jimmy’s secret  recipe, a sprinkle of masala for that hot taste, a dollop of tomato ketchup, some vinegar and finally a dollop of Jimmy’s secret Whip. YUM!!!!!!!!

In between my “making the perfect chip” lesson, I have become addicted to one of our items….THE CHIP ROLL.
What’s a Chip Roll??? YUMMY & ADDICTIVE IS WHAT!!!!!
Place some of the perfect chips inside a toasted and buttered roll and voila!!!!
You will want more I promise you!!!!!
