Russian's Ruthless Demand by Michelle Conder
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
This is the 14th book in the Chastfield Series but really there’s not much about the Chatsfield Dynasty except that the hero and heroine spend a night of passion in one of the hotels!!!!
I was not crazy about the two main characters, which rather spoilt the story for me…I was really excited about the whole building of an ice hotel but let’s just say that whilst that part was nice, the hard-assed Russian billionaire with a huge chip on his shoulder (yes, he was abandoned as a child and lived in the streets of Moscow as a petty thief until he made his millions!!!!!) just did nothing for me.
In fact he annoyed me every time he made an appearance on the pages!!!
And let me not forget the heroine, Eleanore Harrington, who has spent her life living in the shadow of her successful sisters!!! All she wants to be as good as them!! And hey, she even has a list of her life goals!!!! I would have warmed up to her if she had just been a bit more independent from her family!!!! Hell, she’s talented, even funny at times but she just irritated me…and let me start on how she handled the pain in the ass Russian hero with his “da’s” and all those Russian words he uses in between his English!
He goes from ignoring her and thinking she’s just some silly rich and spoilt rich girl to wanting her desperately when he discovers she’s a VIRGIN!!!! Oh Please Save Me From Slapping His Face!!!!!!
How I managed to get to the END is beyond explanation!!!!!!

Review: Tempted By Her Billionaire Boss by Jennifer Hayward
Tempted By Her Billionaire Boss by Jennifer Hayward
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
What a great office romance!!!!
The beginning of this story is absolutely fabulous!!!
I adored the hero and heroine. Francesca
Francesca “Frankie” Masseria, an absolutely lovable dynamo and stand-in PA to the powerful and sexy CEO , Harrison Grant, is like a breath of fresh air in his rather bleak world of wheeling and dealing life
I liked the chemistry and interaction between these two. There were some wonderful scenes that just grabbed an pulled you in.
Glamorous locations, engaging characters and great plot!!!!

What a great office romance!!!!
The beginning of this story is absolutely fabulous!!!
"Put your hands in the air."Talk about a "meeting of two minds" with a difference!!!!
The guards roared the words at them, their attention fixed on Harrison. Frankie stuck her hands in the air, her heart slamming so violently against her chest she thought she might pass out. Her gaze sat frozen on the glare of the lights reflected off the silver barrels.
"It didn't occur to me you were going to like it, Geoffrey. I pay people like you to make things happen, not for your incredibly insightful strategic thinking."Before the end of Chapter 1, I knew I was going to take an interesting trip with these two characters!!!!!
Harrison Grant. Oh, my God. What is he doing back tonight?
She reared her head up, her skull connecting hard with the inch-thick top of the desk. Stars exploded behind her eyes. A curse escaped her as she dropped the shoe, clasped her head in her hands and absorbed the pulsing aftershocks.
"Good God." The harsh-edged voice came closer. "Geoffrey, I'm going to have to call you back."
I adored the hero and heroine. Francesca

Review: An Exquisite Challenge (Harlequin Presents) by Jennifer Hayward
An Exquisite Challenge by Jennifer Hayward
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This is the 2nd book in the Delicious De Campo’s Series and I liked it a bit more than the 1st book, The Divorce Party.
Now we get Lilly de Campo’s sister, Alex’s story, who meets and falls in love with another de Campo brother, Gabe….okay, keeping it all in the family!!!!
Alex is a bit spunkier than Lilly and has a few skeletons in the closet, which naturally has to deal with and overcome before finding her HEA with Gabe, the wine maker of the de Campo dynasty!!!
Conflict, some emotional baggage, with a bit of mystery….yes, there’s some shenanigans happening in the winery and finally the hero/heroine discovering that they are meant to be with each other.
I rather enjoyed the setting…..vineyards, wine making and sexy and arrogant rich Italian hero with a soft heart underneath his hardness….yes and a heroine who is actually a rather fabulous and amazing person.
Fun read!!!

Review: The Divorce Party by Jennifer Hayward
The Divorce Party by Jennifer Hayward

Did I find it hard to even finish this book!!! Look, it’s not exactly awful….in fact for a debut novel it’s not that bad!!! It’s just that the whole plot and main characters were just a bit tooooo ridiculous for me!!!
So here we have Lilly Anderson, is a poor and lovely looking heroine who falls in love and marries the gorgeous and sexy and ultra zillionaire Ricardo de Campo. She feels insecure, thinks she doesn’t measure up to his lofty standards and leaves him…and oh yes, she also thinks he sleeps with everyone woman in town!!! A year later, a divorce party is set up to celebrate he getting her freedom i.e. a divorce so she can marry the new man in her life…yes this new guy is nothing exciting…he doesn’t throw sparks along her way…but he’s sooooo steady and nice and nothing like her soon to be ex-husband!!!
Now, Ricardo de Campo is still in love with the heroine and despite paying her a load of money during their separation, just knows he can’t get her back with his millions…yes, that’s right, Lilly is no gold-digger!!!! Really!!!
Anyway, Ricardo devices a plot to keep Lilly….tells her he needs her to stay married for a bit longer for his dying father and she needs money for her sick sister…and says yes!!!!!
I could not engage with these two characters. They were both so silly….how could two people actually have misunderstood each other was just beyond me!!!!
But I must admit that I will read the next book in the series…just to see where the secondary characters get up to!!!!

Review: Killer (Alex Delaware, #29) by Jonathan Kellerman
Killer by Jonathan Kellerman
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Jeez, what's happening to this series???
I have been reading Alex Delaware & Milos Sturgis LA adventures since the first book came out years ago and really liked them until the last two or three books..........which have so not done it for me.
Okay, so this is the 29th novel in the series and maybe the author is getting a bit tired of writing or finding new ideas or plots but really!!!!!!
The magic between the two protagonists is just not there!!!! It's beyond missing!!!!!
There are very few pages where the two actually together!!!
The plot was flat and the secondary characters just beyond any redemption!!!
The only thing that got me to finish the book was the LA setting, which is very well written.
I am not sure if I am going to continue with this series!!!
Maybe it's time Alex & Milo retire and go and live in a nice quite seaside retirement village!!!!

Review: The Perfect Poison (Arcane Society, #6) by Amanda Quick
The Perfect Poison by Amanda Quick
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I haven’t read this series in reading order…but having read most of the contemporary ones, which I have really enjoyed, I decided to read the ones I missed….even though I am not a great lover of historical romance.
But I am so surprised by how much I am enjoying the books set in the Victorian Era, which begins with book #1, Second Sight https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... The author’s vivid imagery brings living in that era to life - You are transported to Victorian London……
One of the things I like in this series is how the heroines are portrayed. These are independent, talented and smart women who are not afraid to face danger and adventure.
The Perfect Poison is the 6th book in Amanda Quick/Jayne Ann Krentz/Jayne Castle’s (yes, I am also confused by the three names used by one author!!!!) Arcane Society Series.
Lucinda Bromley is a botanist and member of the Arcane Society and has the psychic gift for detecting poisons. When she’s wrongly suspected of poisoning her fiancĂ©, she seeks the help of fellow Arcane Society member Caleb Jones, who was introduced in Second Sight.
Great and well-paced plot. Interesting and likeable characters. Romance. Suspense. Murder. Paranormal. Twists and turns and a great and many surprises.
And loved discovering how the Jones & Jones Investigations began.
