I was so excited to read another book from one of my favorite series by Cara McKenna, one of my favorite authors only to realize after page 1 that this was a prequel to the series and is the story of Miah & Raina.
Okay, so this gives us their back-story but I just couldn’t get into their relationship here…I already knew that these two were not going to have a HEA…because Raina gets hers with some else in book #2, https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... - that made it difficult for me to become involved with them.
I liked Miah from the start when he’s introduced in book #1, https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... .
He has a deep quietness that got under my skin. And seeing his emotions and feelings being tossed around by Raina in this story just did not go well for me. I disliked Raina immensely for what she was doing to him…….yes, it was all sex for her but she knew it was more for Miah so why carry on!!!
I just felt that she was not good enough for him.
Then I kept thinking how much I liked Raina in her book, Give it All……see, I should have read this book first instead!!!!
However, I did like reading about these two characters and the town of Fortuity and its inhabitants. I love this author’s writing and she must be one of the best at writing amazing sex scenes.
I am now anxiously waiting for book #3, which comes out in November….jeez, seems like a very long wait!!!! But I am sure it’s going to be worth it!!!
And please can we get Miah’s HEA next!!!!!!!!!!!!!
