I was curious about this book, after reading so many good reviews. Also that this was the debut novel by J J McAvoy, a young and upcoming author was another curiosity.
The story line of an Irish and an Italian mafia families joining up by using their children ….well, sounded quite interesting and different!!
So, why was I not exactly grabbed by the story of Liam Callahan & Melody Giovanni? After all, they are both rich, beautiful and totally beyond dangerous!!!. See, that’s what didn’t do it for me!!! I just could not, even remotely, like these two characters.
They were so cruel, cold, unfeeling, self-centered…..how could they ever have any real feelings for each other!!!! Oh, yes, maybe when they were both torturing and killing off their enemies!!!
I am not exactly put off by any other books written by this author because the writing is actually quite good….just did not connect with the characters and the whole violence/sex/killing thinghie!!!!
However, after reading my first book by this author, I am, yes, curious, to read more by her.
