Blood Games by Chloe Neill
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
The 10th book in the Chicagoland Vampires series and the author is still keeping me interested in the compelling and fresh urban fantasy world she has created.
I enjoyed this book but there were a few things that just did not do it for me.
The story opens with a murder of a human that may be linked to the vampires. Soon becomes clear that there is a serial killer on the loose that likes using tarot cards as his signature. Although this is one of the plots, nothing really happens until the end when the killer is revealed.
Then the part where Ethan and other vampire Masters are being tested for the position of the leader of the GP……the vampire Nicole and the whole process was a bit much for me.
And then when Ethan goes back to his old habits of not trusting Merit enough to tell her about a message he received that has obviously shaken him. What the hell…I thought he and Merit had gone past the whole trust issues thing!!!!
I did like seeing the relationship between Merit and Mallory getting back to being friends again. It’s really odd…because I was not exactly loving Mallory until this book….but now, I really like her.
The twist at the end leaves one wondering…where to next.
I just hope that the author can continue keeping this series as fresh and interesting.
