Blood Magick by Nora Roberts
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Let me begin by saying that I have always loved any book written by Nora Roberts but what is going on lately with her last couple of books!!!!!
Seriously, I am starting to think that it can't be the same person who wrote such great and memorable books in the past. In fact, I have this crazy idea that this series must have been written by a ghost writer....No way could it have been NR!!!!!!!
I struggled to even finish this one....it just dragged on and on with such weird and forgettable characters...only reason I turned the last page was that I was hoping it would get better..but no, it did not!!!!!
I am seriously scared to pick up her next novel!!!!! Will I get the brilliance of NR or just some rehash?????

Review: Reaver (Lords of Deliverance #5; Demonica #10) by Larissa Ione
Reaver by Larissa Ione
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Reaver is the 3rd book in Larissa Ione’s Lords of Deliverance series, a fabulous spinoff of her just as fantastic Demonica Series.
The book opens with a short prologue that gives us a glimpse of Reaver & Harvester’s lives as angels in Heaven. They have no memories of the connection they had all those thousands of years ago.
Reaver once a Fallen Angel has been “upgraded” to full angel status has become the good watcher of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who he discovers are his children.
Harvester has been playing the bad Fallen Angel for thousands of years, working on Satan’s side to bring down the Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
But at the last moment, she betrays Satan by stopping the Apocalypse, which lands her in big trouble. Now stuck in Hell, where she’s being tortured on a massive scale, with no means of escaping in sight.
There’s no love lost between Reaver & Harvester – did she not want to kill his children???? – but then she does the unthinkable……..actually sacrifices herself to save their lives and the world!!!!! Not only that but he discovers that it’s not the only sacrifice she has made……..the truth is that she had volunteered to becoming a Fallen Angel and working as a spy in the demon realm of Sheoul. for Heaven….Reaver is determined to save her and against Heaven orders, travels to Hell to rescue her. Nothing will stop him…….
Their escape journey is both terrifying and enlightening as they fight the darkness of Hell filled demons and memories of their past that surface, and the feelings and emotions that develop between them.
These two broken characters, star-crossed lovers that we always meant to be together…
Witty dialogue….
Suspense, action, friendship and memorable characters and a world so vividly detailed.
A beautiful and emotional journey of forgiveness, love and redemption.
I adored Reaver & Harvester and loved seeing them discovering each other again and finding their HEA.

“So," he said, "you really think having archangels string you up by your halo is worth saving this Harvester chick?"
"She saved the world"
Wraith shrugged. "So did I, but I don't see you offering up your holy ass to save me."
"Are you suffering unspeakable horrors at the hands of Satan?"
"No," Wraith said, "but sometimes I have to eat the hospital cafeteria food.”
Their escape journey is both terrifying and enlightening as they fight the darkness of Hell filled demons and memories of their past that surface, and the feelings and emotions that develop between them.
“That's my girl," he murmured.
"I'm not your girl."
"Well," he said not bothering to hide his smile from her sightless eyes, "the good news is that the honey gave you back your sparkling personality."
"And the bad news?"
"The honey gave you back your sparkling personality.”
These two broken characters, star-crossed lovers that we always meant to be together…
“Fine,” he said. “You’re right. We’re not normal. We’re the most fucked-up, star-crossed lovers in history. So let’s not play nice.”
Witty dialogue….
“I suggested that someone grab Bill Gates and get him to install a new operating system, but apparently he's not a demon" At Reaver's eye roll she nodded. "Right? I was surprised too.”

“All she'd ever wanted was to be good, so it was ironic that in order to do good, she'd had to become bad. She'd had to make everyone she cared about hate her. She'd had to lose everything, from her self-respect to her wings to her dreams of having friends and a family with Yenrieth, the only person she'd ever loved.”

Review: The Russian's Ultimatum by Michelle Smart (
The Russian's Ultimatum by Michelle Smart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I was surprised by how I actually enjoyed this book. The first few chapters I had some doubts about it…the hero named Pasha….I hated his name…visions appeared in my head of him looking something like…
Pasha is a zillionaire in London..where else!!! He’s aloof, cold, and emotionless and cares only about making money…don’t all of them do!!! But he also has a lot of family issues…the ones back in Russia…so when he catches Emily Richardson stealing secrets from his laptop in his office…what does he do??? Blackmail her naturally…he forces her to go with him to his private Caribbean island for a week to keep her near him so that she does not spill the beans and destroy his revenge plans…oh yes, he is on a revenge trip with someone back in Russia.
Emily is a totally adorable heroine….she designs clothes and looks after her sick father..oh by the way…he spying has something to do with her father.
So, here she is, stuck on a gorgeous private island with the gorgeous Russian….doesn’t sound a bad way to be blackmailed…right??? Of course he threatens her at first…he demands she sleep with him but wait..this man is not such a cold fish…he actually turns out to be a nice guy.
Of course Emily makes an incredible impact on him and soon both are immersed in each other…physically and emotionally!!!! She makes him see the world from a different view….
And you thought love cannot conquer all???? Well, it does in this story…because Pasha and Emily go off into the sunset to have their HEA…after all the issues – both his and hers…yes, she has them too!!!!....have been resolved.
This was a cute and sweet read and yes, I actually liked this Russian hero!!!!

…I know….Mills & Boon heroes never look like that…ever….it’s about this Russian hero thing I have….I don’t really like them..well most of them!!!! Pasha just seemed so staid and cold…he wears pressed clothes on his private island!!!! No, I am not kidding….anyway, let me give you the full picture…

Review: To Sin with the Tycoon (Mills & Boon Modern) (Seven Sexy Sins - Book 1) by Cathy Williams
To Sin with the Tycoon (Mills & Boon Modern) by Cathy Williams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I’ve read dozens of books by this author…some I liked and some not…kind of a hit and miss for me….but I always look forward to reading her latest…just in case it turns out to be a hit for me!!
Surprise…..her newest book, To Sin with the Tycoon was a definite hit for me. The 1st in the Seven Sexy Sins Series which does a take on sloth…and what a good word to describe the hero, Gabriel Cabrera (love his name…)….if anyone is suffering from emotional apathy it’s this guy!!!! Of course he stresses that he’s always honest about his feelings with everyone…in particular with the woman who are in and out of his bed!!!!!
More later about the sinfully gorgeous Gabriel..let me begin with saying that this is an office romance with a bit of a difference. Yes, a hell of a difference. This is not about a boss taking over his PA’s life and calling the shots….no, this is where the PA does the calling!!
You see, Gabriel is a total womanizer, has no time for relationships, emotions and even in his work life he shows a bit of laziness and hey, I’m rich…I can do anything I want, anytime I want, with anyone I want!!!! Well, he’s in for a big big surprise!!!!!
And that is when he hires Alice Morgan as his newest PA..after firing dozens before. Hey, he has no time for woman working for him, who fall in love with him. He does not mix business with pleasure…so Alice will be most suitable…she’s plain, boring and somewhat uptight…certainly not his type of woman..he likes sexy airheads, which is something Alice is not!!
I absolutely adored Alice. She may have daddy and men issues..who wouldn’t with a dog for a father and another dog for her ex…..she’s not exactly a virgin but her experience with men so far has been really nothing to write home about…so I guess she’s more of a virginal innocent…or for a better description…not very experienced!!!
Now, she’s determined not to become another notch in Gabriel’s bedpost even though she thinks he’s HOT……..but sometimes we just have to give in to our “basic” instincts…which she does when Gabriel sneakily gets her to go to Paris on a business trip with him…with some devious intentions…because by now Gabriel is pretty consumed by this woman who just does not fall into his bed!!!! Now, he thinks he has everything wrapped up….and then BAM……….he gets his wish…Alice in his bed..BUT…and a HUGE BUT….on her terms and not his!!!! Despite the hotness in bed...and hey, does Gabriel know his way around a bed.............but Alice wants more than a hot sex....Take that Casanova!!!!
Alice does not let the magic of Paris and Gabriel take over her head, which is in the right place……
Tells him she will spend time in and out of his bed but once back home, things will go back to what they were before….like…little Paris affair will only last for the duration of the Paris trip.
Talk about shock……..Gabriel is so shocked…is he not the one who decides when the affair will end? How can this be happening to him??? This is crazy.
So okay, if that is what she wants….he’s okay with that. He fires her and goes on with his life without Alice, despite her being the first woman he has truly liked being with…in and out of bed naturally!!!!
I adored the interaction and dialogue between the two……funny, sweet and totally lovely……….
I’m not giving anything else away…..how much groveling he has to do before she gives in to him….what, did you ever doubt they would have a HEA????? Of course, they do.
The hero always gets the heroine in the end………I just loved that!!!!!
Gabriel & Alice are one of the most adorable couple ever.
I so enjoyed this read.

Review: Twice Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #3) by Chloe Neill
Twice Bitten by Chloe Neill
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The author has developed a compelling paranormal world which quite an interesting theme, that of vampires that have been “outed” and how they try to live openly amongst the human race.
One of the things I found annoying in the first two books was Merit. I found her a bit immature and silly a lot of the times and I wondered if I would ever connect with her. Also the tension and slow build-up between her and Ethan drove me crazy……..in between all her flirting with this one or that one. I even began thinking that these two would never get it together.
So when I began Twice Bitten, the 3rd installment in the Chicagoland Vampires Series, my thinking was…..what next with Merit & Ethan??? Wow…chemistry between these two has never been hotter!!!! Sparks fly….check the training exercises between Merit & Ethan….sizzling and ever so sexy!!!
Well, progress at last!!!!
I have always liked Ethan Sullivan, sexy, mysterious and uber cool Master Vampire
and here we get to see another side to this gorgeous man..oops..Vampire!!!!
And Merit…let’s just say that she’s become so much more interesting and fun and likeable!!!!
More romance….yeah!!! Great storyline – a look at the world of the shape shifters…who are still living in secret from the human race. Actions, twists and turns, and romance of course…more on my favorite characters and some new and interesting ones too.
Overall this was a much better book than the previous ones and I am really eager to continue with this series.

“You undo me, Merit. Wholly and completely. You don’t take me at my word. You challenge me at every opportunity. And that means when I’m with you, I am less than the head of this House…and I am more than the head of this House. I am a man.” He stroked my cheeks with his thumbs. “In my very, very long life, I need you more than I have ever needed anything.”

Review: Fonseca's Fury (Mills & Boon Modern) (Billionaire Brothers - Book 1) by Abby Green
Fonseca's Fury (Mills & Boon Modern) by Abby Green
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I love any book written by this author and Fonseca’s Fury, the first book in the Billionaire Brothers series is no exception.
A beautiful, emotional and well-written story of love, misunderstanding and redemption.
We were introduced to Serena DePiero in Forgiven but not Forgotten, her sister Siena’s book https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... which gave us a glimpse of the terrible lives they had at the hands of their abusive and cruel father.
Serena, former wild-child, who has clawed back to regain her life and sanity..and Luca, enigmatic and broken by his past, who has rebuilt his life after seeing his world implode – this is their story.
The author weaves a story passion, love, angst, hope and happiness of two characters that find love and healing to overcome the horror of their past. Serena and Luca got under my skin….I so wanted them to be together and to find their HEA. From hate to love…..
I enjoyed how the social and ecological issues of the Amazon rainforest are woven into the story and the journey that Serena and Luca embark on to reach a remote mining village in the Amazon was really well done.
Love scenes were so well-written….sensual, sexy, beautiful…
Beautiful locations….what’s not to love about Rio…. and not forgetting Luca’s home in that city…stunning and soooo gorgeous
One unforgettable scene in this story – when Luca takes Serena to the beach to watch the sunset……..so touching, so beautiful
I loved this book and it’s definitely one that I will read again.
Can’t wait for Max’s book next….Luca’s brother’s short appearance in this story made it something to look forward to.

Review: Branded as Trouble (Rough Riders, #6) by Lorelei James
Branded as Trouble by Lorelei James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I had forgotten how much I enjoyed reading the first 5 books in the Rough Riders Series, which follows the lives of the Wyoming Mckay family of ranchers.
Branded for Trouble, the 6th book gives us Colt McKay and India Ellison, who were introduced in previous books….. and what a fun and fabulous read.
India Ellison is not your average “cowgirl”…an artist who owns a tattoo shop in the local town, with blue dyed hair, tattooed and pierced – she rides a bike and happens to be Colt’s AA sponsor.
Colt McKay, gorgeous, sexy and the black sheep of the family, has been clean for three years after spending a few years in a haze of drugs and alcohol.
Best friends, both trying to deal with their addictions and the attraction they feel for each other which has grown from the friendship.
These two are such a cute, funny and lovable couple. Hot sexual tension….Their interaction and growing feelings are a real treat to see………..Colt realizes he wants to get India into his bed…and what a luck….even if it means some pain for him….yes, India shot him in his ass with one of her tattoo guns…and him now recuperating in her home is the perfect opportunity to get her “nekkid””….
and there’s a lot of that going on in this story………..what a cowboy!!!!
Lots of family politics, with appearances of characters from previous books…Cam McKay, war hero who has the hots for Domini Katzinski, Skylar and Kade and their adorable kids and my ultimate favorite trio/couple, Trevor, Edgard & Chassie Glanzer …waiting for their baby to arrive….love seeing how their lives have progressed together.
A fantastic and such a lovely ending to Colt & India’s story…..
I am so looking forward to continuing this series.

This was such a boring read....fell so flat for me!!!!!
I could not connect with the mc's...in fact I really disliked the hero...he was such a not so nice man....and the heroine .....well...let's just say I found her totally irritating.
The story line was unrealistic to me....all the angst and drama..........too much for me.
I think this is the first book by this author and I don't think I will grab any of her future books.

Nine Months to Redeem Him by Jennie Lucas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Another fabulous book by Jennie Lucas.
Fantastic story line with engaging mc's, great dialogue and gorgeous settings..my favourite being the dark and looming castle in Cornwall, where the hero and heroine first meet....
Loved watching the sarcastic and cruel hero turning into a love crazed man as he gets to know the real person underneath the facade the heroine shows the world.
Beautifully written from 1st person POV...the heroine! You really get into her head and makes you understand who she really is.
I love this author and can't wait for her next book.

Review: The Secret His Mistress Carried by Lynne Graham
The Secret His Mistress Carried by Lynne Graham
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I gave this one 4 stars only because I adored Billie, the heroine. She may have been a doormat when she was the hero's mistress for two years but she certainly grew some backbone when she left him, after he informed her that he was going to marry the "right kind of woman".
So, two years on, hero has divorced the so called perfect wife, who is actually the most odious and bitchy woman ever.........and goes knocking on Billie's door, where she has built a life for herself and the hero's secret son....yes, he wants her back in his life, as his mistress and no not as his wife.........
What a sod.....I so disliked Gio....he takes the alpha-male to a new, so not nice level!!!!
But wait, when he discovers he has a son.....something he never wanted to have as he told Billie years before...he suddenly wants him!!!!! Totally unbelievable....arrogant, unrepentant......check this out...when he demands that Billie drop everything and go with him to Greece....
Too bad his family love her.....I so wanted him to grovel....not enough grovelling from him was my feeling........
But hey, Billie loves him and in his way I guess he loves her too.....so let me leave the three of them to their HEA........he better be good to her!!!! Or I will come looking for Gio and slap his damn face!!!!!

The 12th novel in Nalini Singh’s brilliant Psy/Changeling Series, set in the complex, dark and fantastic world that she has created. And the first book that features two Psy characters as a couple. Darkness & Light..
A beautiful, intense, dark and emotionally filled love story, of two broken people meant to be together since they first met as children. Of how powerful love can be between two souls, despite the pain, the cruelty, the torture both endured nothing will keep them apart.
First introduced in Visions of Heat, Psy Councilor Kaleb Krychek is one of the most powerful, cold, dangerous, emotionless and ruthless members in the Psy Council who had been under the guidance of the evil, now dead, Psy Cardinal, Enrique Santano. Since a child, had been exposed to the most horrific world, that made him become the person he is today….icy and dark hearted… – he has no problem with killing his enemies and anyone who stands in his way in reaching his goals, one of those being in finding someone that disappeared from his life seven years ago, whose identify we learn at the end in Tangle of Need.
Sahara Nightstar, Faith Nightstar’s cousin who had disappeared seven years ago and had been held captive and tortured by one of the Council Members. The pain she endured and her mind almost erased was beyond belief.
A lot happens in this book. The world is a dangerous place for everyone – the struggle between the human race, Psy and Changeling world is about to implode. Things unravel at a breathtaking and neck-breaking pace, where secrets are revealed and lots of questions answered…one being the Ghost’s identity is….did we ever guess it?????.....well, it’s no biggie that it’s Kaleb K….I felt all along that there was a good side to him…he had a heart, he had a goodness that he had kept locked away all those years. We begin to see this as Sahara slowly shows him the light he has inside
What made this story so special for me:
Although the plot delves into the politics of the Psy/Changeling world, it does not detract from the love story of Kaleb & Sahara. They are the main characters and feature in almost every chapter, giving you an insight into the healing and love of each other.
How love changed them both….Sahara’s love making Kaleb see the light inside of him….that he was not only darkness That despite the pain and torture they had both endured, they complemented each other perfectly.
Absolutely brilliant how the author managed to make Kaleb into a likable character at the end, without making him into a “wimp”….he’s still dangerous, still loyal, still focused and still true to his goal in making the Psy world a better place for everyone. Hell, he will go to any ends to make Sahara happy, to care for her …
I loved meeting up with characters from the previous books………Faith Nightstar, Mercy, Judd and so many others…and the time Sahara spent in the Changeling world….
Beautifully written, words that flow with such vividness that takes you into this incredible and imaginative world, draws you in to the lives of endearing, lovable and unforgettable characters.
An absolute joy it was reading Kaleb and Sahara’s story..

Kaleb Krychek, cardinal telekinetic and a man no one wanted to meet alone on a dark night, had been searching for his quarry for seven years, three weeks, and two days. Even while he slept, his mind had continued to hunt through the sprawling psychic network that was the heartbeat and the cage of the Psy race. Not for a day, not for a second, had he forgotten his search, forgotten what they'd taken from him.
Everyone involved would pay. He'd make certain of it.
Sahara Nightstar, Faith Nightstar’s cousin who had disappeared seven years ago and had been held captive and tortured by one of the Council Members. The pain she endured and her mind almost erased was beyond belief.

Review: Passion Unleashed (Demonica, #3) by Larissa Ione
Passion Unleashed by Larissa Ione
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is one of my favorite PNR series and have read all the books - somehow I missed this one!!!!
Wow, I adored Wraith...he's such a cool demon/vampire and sexy too...yes and a bit of a man..or should I say demon whore...until he meets Serena Kelley. And can't say I blame him!!!
Serena is a lot of things....treasure hunter, sassy, interesting and keeper of a charm that gives her immortality...if she remains a virgin!!!!
Now, that is not so easy when Wraith is around....because he needs her immortality charm to save his life...yes, a horrible demon poisoned him and the charm is his only salvation!!! But then he finds out that if he takes it from her, she will die!!!!
Bet you can guess what Wraith does???? No, I am not going to give anything away...just read the book...........it's ultra fabulous!!!!

Review: Spin (Songs of Corruption, #1) by C.D. Reiss
Spin by C.D. Reiss
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
3.5 stars
This was the first book I read by this author.
I kind of got into this book but there were some things that just did not do it for me...
The whole mafia angle....did not feel real to me.
The hero...apart from him being a "mafioso" with a heart...I liked.
The heroine drove me a bit crazy....she was all over the place....
And the instant love felt a bit forced.....
However, I am going to read the next book in this series....
PS....Preferred her Submission Series so much more.
