The 2nd book in amazing In the Company of Killers Series. I loved the 1st book, Killing Sarai https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... and at the end, Victor disappears and Sarai is left alone, unable to forget him.
Sarai, re-inventing herself as Izabel in her new life is reunited with Victor Faust, the man that will change her life forever.
Izabel is much stronger now and has come to terms with the life she has chosen and wants Victor to help her become a killer like him.
I loved seeing the “human and softer” side of Victor, the cold-hearted killer we met in the previous book. Getting to know more about his childhood and what made him become the person he has.
Izabel has made a significant impact in Victor’s life. She has touched his soul and he needs and loves her.
"You're more important to me than anything or anyone. To have you here, with me, isn't a burden. I want to train you. For as long as it takes. I want to wake up every morning with you next to me. I need you in my life more than I have ever needed or wanted anything."
“I’m not sure what this is between us,” he says carefully, “but I am sure that I don’t want it to stop. Whatever it is.”
His life has become something he never thought would be like. His heart slowly thaws and he becomes closer to the brother he believed never felt any love for. He begins caring for the people around him.
Some amazing secondary characters….the dark and murderous Frederik, Niklas, Victor’s brother, now reunited together. Can’t wait for their books.
""You're going to be the death of me," I whisper onto her lips before slipping my tongue into her mouth.
""No discipline, Izabel." He studies my face with a hungry and calculated sweep of his eyes. He licks the side of my mouth and shoves the gun deeper into my throat. "You will never learn."
I try to kiss him, searching for his mouth with my own, but he refuses me, teasing me with the distance of his lips barely an inch away.
He licks me again. And then he shoves me down on the bed and crawls between my naked legs, still dressed from the waist down in his black slacks
This is a well-written, fast-paced story with fascinating characters that remain with you for a long time.
I just love the writing ----
I was elated that these two broken people, together founding something special in each other and able to bring light into their lives.
I am looking forward to the next installment.
