Bay of Sighs is the 2nd book in Nora Roberts latest The Guardians Trilogy.
I was not impressed with the follow-up to book 1, Stars of Fortune.... https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... which I loved.

Annika and Sawyer's story just dragged on most of the time....okay, the Isle of Capri setting...

...fabulous!!!

But....
all that training going on....and on....and on!!! All the mermaid and sex and penis jokes...........after a while....just got boring and more boring!! Even the evil goddess Nerezza became a drag!!

The mermaid Annika and time traveller Sawyer romance never felt real to me!!! There was something lacking between them!!!

The only parts I liked were about Annika

.......she was beyond adorable.........her love for shopping, bright baubles and table settings - totally endearing!!!

I felt disconnected with this story and what I am now looking forward to is Riley and Doyle's book.....hopefully it will be a "blast."

Faithless, the 5th book in Karin Slaughter's Grant County Series brings back the small town medical examiner, Dr Sara Linton and ex husband Grant County chief of police, in a complex and gripping tale of murder, religious cults, family abuse, secrets and a remorseless killer that keeps your guessing until the very end.

This series is gritty with flawed and interesting characters that are very well developed. The small town settings are vividly written - I would feel the menace and danger swirling around!!!

I've read this series a few times and I find it just as great as the first time.

This series should be read in book order:
1) Blindsighted
2) Kisscut
3) A Faint Cold Fear
4) Indelible
5) Faithless
6) Beyond Reach

Kisscut, the 2nd novel in Karin Slaughter's Grant County Series opens with a shocking and horrific scene. The fatal shooting of a teenage girl by the local police chief, Jeffrey Tolliver leads to the gruesome discovery of pedophilia, incest and children's porn right in the small town.

This was a really shocking and unsettling story of child abuse, secrets and depravity with some really disturbing scenes. The author created such a feeling of menace and evil in the town that had me on the edge of my seat.

The ending is even more unexpected than what I was expecting. Wow....

This is the 2nd time I have read this book and it "freaked" me out just as much as the first time.

I was so looking forward to Lucas Conti’s story after meeting him in The Surprise Conti Child, https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... , the 1st book in Tara Pammi’s The Legendary Conti Brothers Duet.

I certainly was not disappointed in The Unwanted Conti Bride!!! In fact, I absolutely loved this book.

Leandro & Luca Conti have become one of my favorite Italian brothers!!! I found their relationship and connection with each other fascinating and totally incredible. Leandro’s understanding of his brother’s pain was admirable.

I loved the storyline…there were so many issues involving Luca and Sophia Rossi…their past history and coming together years later.


I loved Sophia. Her commitment to her family, her drive and her vulnerabilities…her strength and her determination and the fact that she never gave up on Luca….even when things between them were bleak and seemed impossible to ever find happiness together…

Luca Conti is a tortured hero, a genius who hides his pain and darkness behind the playboy image he has cultivated.

I loved that both were able to heal each other and find true happiness together.
Their chemistry was intense, emotional and passionate.

Loved the epilogue…….I thought the role reversal of the two absolutely fantastic…..and unique.

This is one of those books I will read again.

I thought that The Infamous Ellen James, https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... book #1 in the Infamous Series by N A Alc orn was a total hilarious read but the 2nd book in this series, Avoiding Amy Jackson, Ellen’s best friend, takes funny to the MAX…………..

I couldn’t help falling in love with this character…Amy Jackson is pure lovable. In-your--face, loud, obnoxious, commitment phobic….one-night stands are what she does best…forget relationships, love, marriage and all that white picket fence thinghie……

"Amy was like a teeny, tiny drunken version of the Incredible Hulk. When she didn't get the D, she got very, very angry."

"Shes’s what one would call a total “pottie” mouth…..

But when Dr James Williams enters her life…….how will she be able to resist him….

“I want this woman. I’m the type of guy who will fight for what he wants until he gets it. I will take my time with Amy. I won’t rush her. I will continue to slowly slide myself into her life until she realizes that I belong there. And then…I won’t let her go.”

I enjoyed watching the progression of their relationship.

Also loved catching up with Ellen and Trent again and finding out what’s been going on in their lives……

There were so many hilarious and unforgettable scenes in this book….two of my fav…..Amy wanting to do a Brazilian wax and Ellen in labor and the purple dildo scene at the airport……..what a hoot!!!!
Other quotes I enjoyed…

“I’ve found that the drunker Amy gets, the louder Amy gets…and apparently the hornier she gets, too. She’s brushed her fingers along my crotch underneath the white linen table cloth more times than I can count. She’s now gazing at me with pure sexual wantonness written all over face”.

“ “Yes, Dr. Limp Dick. I think that name suits you well. Extremely well. Don’t you agree?”
“The fact that you even took the time to come up with that tells me one thing…” He pauses, obviously waiting for my stubborn pride to chime in.
“What exactly does it tell you?” I spat out, my irritation rising to new heights.
“That you’ve been thinking about me. A lot. Don’t worry, baby. I’ve been thinking about you too.” He leans in close, too close, and it feels like all of the oxygen has been sucked out of the room.

I can’t remember the last time I laughed so much …..If you are in need of a laughing boost….this one’s for you!!!

Okay, this is not a book that will win any Pulitzer Prize….but hell, it wins hands on for being such a funny read!!!

I had a smile on my face whilst reading about snarky, sassy and foul-mouth Ellen James’s life as a nurse and her problems with love!!!


Great characters, awesome and “dirty” dialogue....

"Can we finish this conversation tomorrow? I have to get ready for work."
"Sure. I can't wait to rehash how some guy refused to make boom-boom with my so-called 'drunken vagina,'" Amy rolls her eyes dramatically as she uses her fingers for air quotes.
Looks like I'm going to have my work cut out for me with this situation.

Swoony hero…..Dr Trent Hamilton…..ooh…….

“I'm falling in love with you too, sweetheart. I know you're scared, and I know the shit that dickless douchebag put you through has you doing everything in your power to never go through something like that again, but I'm not him, baby. Don't run from it. Fall with me. Be with me, Ellie. I want to give you every part of myself. I want to be the reason you wake up every day with a smile on your beautiful face. God, Ellie. You own me. You fucking have me by the balls and I don't even care.”

If you want to read something light and funny….this is the book for you!!!
