Review: Away from the Dark (The Light, #2) by Aleatha Romig (Goodreads Author)

Away from the Dark (The Light, #2)Away from the Dark by Aleatha Romig
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Away from the Light, the 2nd book in Aleatha Romig's The Light Duet, picks up from the previous book, Into the Light.

After almost a year her memories being controlled by the religious cult, The Light, she's now started to remember the truth of about herself. Finding herself unable to trust anyone in the cult, including her so called husband, Jacob, she has to make a decision about her future and her freedom.

The story moves forward at a fast pace as we get the backstory for Sara and Jacob. The secondary characters are more developed in this book and more information on the cult and the methods they use to control people. It's sad to see how desperate some people are to finding answers and meaning in their lives that they are so easily manipulated by greedy and unscrupulous people.

This was a well-plotted, compelling, dark and twisted story with flawed and complex characters that are believable and relatable and that kept me on the edge of my seat with many twists and turns come at you when you least expect it.....

This book ended rather strangely. This is supposed to be a duet but the cliffhanger at the end left me asking...is there going to be another spin-off book of this series or not? And if not, why that epilogue??

Would I recommend these two books? Definitely.

After enjoying these two books by this author, I am really excited checking out more of her work.
