Review: Brunetti's Secret Son by Maya Blake (Goodreads Author)

Brunetti's Secret SonBrunetti's Secret Son by Maya Blake
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Brunetti’s Secret Son by Maya Blake is the 2nd book in Secret Heirs of Billionaires Series but it can be read as a standalone.

This is a rather good romance of one night of passion resulting in unplanned pregnancy, a sad and broken hero who comes back into the heroine’s life after she had given up in finding him again.
The same night he'd let his guard down spectacularly with a woman whose face continued to haunt him when he least expected it. A woman who had, for the first time in a long time, made him want to feel the warmth of human emotion.
Romeo Brunetti has survived a traumatic, sad and brutal childhood to becoming a successful businessman, putting his past and his family history behind him. He allows no emotions in his life….the only thing that keeps him going is the willpower and determination to be a better man than his father.

On his father’s death, he discovers that he has a son with the woman he spent one night with those years ago.

Maisie O’Connell’s life revolves around her young son and her business and doing the best she can for him.

The appearance of Romeo, the man she has never forgotten from that one night in Italy, catches her by total surprise.
Without telling her the real truth about his family, he proposes that she marry him so that their son can be protected from people who want to use him to get him to do something he’s not prepared to do.

I liked Romeo and Maisie (geez…just hated her name!!!). Both flawed with baggage from their pasts, they are now faced with a very important decision.
I found the way Romeo reacted to finding himself a father so endearing. The insecurity he felt of not being a good father and not knowing how to be around his son was shown really well. I loved that he went out of his way to build a duck pond for his little son and how he worked so hard at getting close to him.

Two damaged people who help each other overcoming their pasts and finding happiness and love together.

The island setting was beautiful and seeing the two rekindling their passion and feelings for each other was lovely.
This is a lovely and romantic love story and totally enjoyable.
