Wow, what a stunningly glorious debut novel!
RESISTING THE SICILIAN PLAYBOY by Amanda Cinelli won her a top prize..yes, she won the 2014 So You Think You Can Write contest with this book. And in my opinion it was very well deserved.
A brilliant and fascinating plot that tells the story of two successful people coming together and healing each other.
Right from the start, in fact from the 1st page, I knew that I was going to more than like the heroine…
Dara sets the stage for us to get a first glimpse of her “no is not a word she knows”…I chuckled reading the first meeting between her and the elusive hero, who she needs to obtain some very important from.
Dara Devlin had found herself in a few sticky situations in this job, but this had to be by far the worst. She’s definitely not a quitter!!!
A professional event planner should never gatecrash. It had to be written somewhere in the company handbook. Yet here she was, straddling the second-floor balcony ledge of Milan's most exclusive nightclub in four-inch designer heels.
All in the name of business, of course.
The heels had certainly slowed progress up the slippery emergency ladder, but leaving them in the alley below was unthinkable. A woman stood by her shoes, no matter how sticky the situation. And this situation most definitely qualified as sticky.
Handbag in one hand, she silently willed her skirt not to tear as she maneuvered herself less than gracefully over the cold stone ledge, landing on hard marble tiles.
The sparkly and witty dialogue between Dara and Leo Valente is a joy to read…from the first words uttered by Leo I felt that this was going to be quite a trip with these two…
''Signorina, is there a particular reason you are sneaking around out here in the darkness?'I adored Dara but I fell in love with Leo Valente right away…
He’s nothing like the tabloids say…yes, he’s rich, suave but nothing else. There’s so much underneath the persona he shows. Tragedy, pain, loss….the demons of his childhood and his parents threaten his very sanity at times, forcing him to show the world that he does not have any deep feelings for anyone or anything….
What starts with a deal Dara and Leo agree on for mutual gains soon grows into an emotional and deep connection between them.
Romance, mystery, suspense, sensuality, sizzling sexy scenes, family secrets and betrayals….keeps you riveted as secrets are revealed.
The beautiful setting of Italy and Sicily are vividly written that makes you think you are actually seeing all the places described in the story. The scenes at Leo’s castle in Sicily are poignant and incredibly moving…
I liked the author’s writing voice. It’s fresh, modern and flows so well, making reading each page a joy.
It had always made her laugh to hear of men described like desserts, but now, standing five feet away from him, she could kind of understand the madness. This is one of those books that romance lovers should read! It’s definitely a keeper and a reread for me. I can’t wait for Amanda Cinelli’s next book. Bring it on!!!!
