And when last were you left with that feeling of…..
”YOU’RE DONE WITH THE BOOK,Louder Than Love by Jessica Topper was one of those such books!!!!
BUT THE STORY KEEPS PLAYING
IN YOUR HEAD”
I was riveted, unable to put it down…..I just never wanted to get to the last page…..at all!!!
This was my first book by this author and lucky for me….discovered her after reading a review by one of my very very GR’s friend, Baba (merci….). I know if she writes an awesome review – that’s a book I am going to love as well!!!! And what an added bonus…..a story about a rock star….I was beyond sold on it!!!!
But wait, this is not your everyday rock star love story!! It’s a beautiful, gentle, emotional and uplifting story of two wounded people, who have experienced loss and heartache in their lives and have been given a second chance to finding love and happiness again.
Katrina (Kat) Lewis has returned home with her little daughter, Abbey, after the sudden death of her husband. She’s trying hard to deal with her loss and with getting her life back together. She takes each day as it comes…. She organizes for a singer to take part in the local library do…..she’s never heard of Adrian Graves but she loves his voice…after all those hours listening to her daughter’s kiddies stories cd’s.
Adrian is not exactly what his image projects….singer of kiddies songs…no he’s actually a burnt-out British rockstar from a very famous 80’s band, who after hitting rock bottom, is now living a life away from the madness of stardom, in NYC.
Despite a slow start, building up gently as we see them getting to know each other, spending time together, visiting friends, taking Abbey on outings, lazy days in her hometown and the hustle and bustle of New York….I loved the way the story was paced…..it gave you an insight into the characters and their lives, making them feel so real….these are people that could be your friends…that you could spend time with. I could relate so much with their everyday lives!!
I loved the chemistry between Kat and Adrian – sweet, sexy, gentle, romantic, sensual …..
and seeing them trying to deal with their pasts and not being able to open up to each other was quite emotional.
Realizing that what they felt for each other was something deep and real…….and that if you close yourself off, you may not have that chance again at finding love again….
The dialogue, especially between Kat & Adrian is truly wonderful…..it feels real, it feels true…it’s emotion, it’s feelings…..more than beautiful.
The ending is not without some surprises….but what an incredibly moving and enthralling story.
I am amazed to discover that this is Jessica Topper’s debut novel – she has written a truly emotional and powerful story that has touched me in so many ways.
And hey…..I went to a rock concert, did some head banging…screamed and shouted..….Adrian “Digger” Graves……
Please do yourself a favor…..Read this book!!!! You will be so glad you did!!!
