Review: Shards of Hope (Psy-Changeling, #14) by Nalini Singh

Shards of Hope (Psy-Changeling, #14)Shards of Hope by Nalini Singh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shards of Hope is book 14 in Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling series, and finally we get Aden’s story, which I was eagerly waiting for.

I fell totally in love with Aden. He’s one of the most complex characters in this incredible world that the author has created.

His dedication towards the Arrow world was extraordinary and I was blown away by the way he dedicated himself to his people.
“My job is to make sure no one is left behind.” Aden would never abandon any of his men or women in the dark.”
I must be honest and say that I was a bit dubious about this book…..it started off a bit slow and I was a somewhat irritated by Zaira…..

keeping a distance from Aden, even when he kept telling her how he felt about her…
“If you’re mad, then I will walk with you into the darkness,” Aden said, his grip tightening on the side of her face. “Don’t you choose to leave me, Zaira. Don’t you do that.”

I began warming up to her half-way through the story…..I even forgave her for her excessive possessiveness of Aden…
“If I take you,” she said, and it was a warning, “I’ll keep you. Always.”

Aden’s love for Zaira was so incredible….how much he cared for her…..
You’ll never be alone again. I will always be there for you.”
Whilst I enjoyed the appearances of characters from the previous books, I thought there was a bit too much politics in the story. Now, I am not saying that I am not liking the evolving Psy-Changeling world, it’s probably due to the fact that I prefer the Changelings to the Psy’s!!!!!

My favourite quote in this book
“We can decide to remain in our isolated bunkers, becoming more and more obsessed with looking inward instead of outward, or we can decide to be great together. We can decide to stagnate, or we can decide to grow. We can decide to settle for the status quo, or we can decide to reach for the stars. “Choose.”
I am looking forward to where the author takes this series to next!!!
