REVIEW: THE ARGENTINE'S PRICE by Maisey Yates

This has to be one of the worst books I have read by a Mills & Boon author….. I have tried reading Maisey Yates previous books and though I have not enjoyed any so far, hoped this one would be an improvement……WRONG…Was I so wrong….

Was there something about The Argentine’s Price I liked? No!!!!
Why did I not like this book………….
1              The book cover…..the heroine is a blue-blood American….with roots going back to the Mayflower…..but looks more like a plain, unattractive  Argentinean tango dancer!!!!! Vanessa, the heroine is supposedly beautiful...what was the person responsible for choosing the cover thinking of!!!!! And the hero….talk about an ugly looking billionaire…I know you only see the bottom part of his face…but that stubble….yuck…..just this should have told me this was not a book for me…..
2              The plot line has been used so many many times…..the housekeeper’s poor, lower class son who falls in love with the rich girl, he and his family are treated badly by her family, he goes off and makes oodles of money and comes back seeking revenge by causing her rich family’s downfall, blah blah blah…..
3              The hero forces her to marry him in exchange to saving her family’s money….right!!!!!!it’s all about the money!!!!!
4              She has always loved him but can’t let him know. He doesn’t love her…..and so on
5              He wants to marry her so he can use her to be accepted into her high class society…..and guess what ….after about a month he has been accepted into the old moneyed world….he even gets in to their exclusive golf club!!!!!!A month…that’s all it takes……wow didn’t know it was so easy….but wait he wants to divorce her for a good cause…..okay…did I get that???? Don’t think so!!!!!!
6              I burst out laughing when I came to the part where he bares his soul to her and signing his ENTIRE fortune over to her to show her how much he loves her…..Unbelievable……where do you find this kind of man??????
7              The part where he takes her to Argentina….what was that all about???? I think the author ran out of ideas and needed to add something into the plot to reach her word count!!!!Tango in Buenos Aires…..do billionaires actually do these things today!!!!!!
8              Back to old USA…should she or should she not marry him!!! He only wants revenge…she loves him…what can she do>????
9              Vanessa is one of the most irritating, uninteresting, stupidest heroines ever. No she does not want to be the CEO of the family business…..she is now going to become a photographer….and guess what ….within a year she has her own exhibition…..PLEASE…..
10            The red dress the hero chooses for her to wear to a Ball….with gold sandals….need I say anything more on this subject!!!!!
11            The wedding, the honeymoon….so boring…..bland…..jumping from one scene to another without making sense
12            A 28 year old virgin………in 2011!!!! Oh yes the hero has been in her thoughts for the last 12 years and she has not been able to meet any other man that turned her on……………Unbelievable!!!!!!!!
13            I felt nothing for these two characters…..boring…no fire…no passion….who cares what happens to them….do they live happily ever after…of course they do….these stories must have a happy ending….and in the epilogue…oh I am so happy…..I have my own photographic exhibition, my hero loves me and yes…they are going to have lots and lots of bambinos………..
14            I know that this a work of fiction but the plot was so implausible and too laughable to even believe that maybe…just maybe  it could actually happen in real life…after all we readers have to believe that what we are reading about can actually happen....but this is taking it beyond unbelievable!!!!!
Absolute poppycock!!!!!  I found this book at my local used books store….I would have been really cheesed off if I had paid the full price …a waste of money it would have been……
Bottom line…is it worth reading????? No!!!
Here is a brief synopsis of the story:
It's time for the housekeeper's son to collect his dues...Lazaro Marino will stop at nothing to reach the top. He's climbed his way out of poverty, but there's still one thing that's been denied him: entry into the highest echelons of society. And blue-blooded heiress Vanessa Pickett is the key to unlocking the door to all that he desires...With her business in crisis, Vanessa is desperate. A marriage proposal of the utmost convenience will give both Lazaro and Vanessa everything they need...But, for Vanessa, this deal with the devil comes with a startling price...
