Jonathan Grave aka Digger aka Scorpion and avenging angel of the baddies is back...

He's now become one of my fav action heroes..... And Boxers, Venice (pronounced 've-nee-chay') and characters we have become familiar with and some interesting new ones which I look forward to seeing more of.

The new rescue mission is to find a teenager and his lady bodyguard before they are captured by the baddies…see Graham Mitchell, 14 year old son of murdered scientists holds a secret that could cause the end of the world!!!!

Russian mob, FBI, CIA, Chechnyan rebels, mad scientists, double agents, torture, murder…….follow the fleeing duo ….and the Security Solutions team hot on their trail as well…..lucky for Jolaine & Graham they have the avenging angel and savior on their side !!!

Fast paced, action packed, twists and turns and many surprises, despite the fact that the plot was a bit confusing at times.
The ending was something I was not expecting……but then it involves one of my least favorite characters in this series.
Can’t wait to see where the author will take it from there in the next book...

This is a great series and whilst the 5th book was not as great as previous ones, it still managed to draw me in.

I am totally engaged with the characters - Jonathan Grave aka Scorpion is totally endearing.....super tough-alpha male with a heart and Brian Van de Meulebroeke known as Boxers.. ….hell, his credo…kill and ask questions later!!!!!

So, here we have the team called in by their good secret friend, Irene Rivers, head of FBI aka Wolverine to find the First Lady who has disappeared and feared being kidnapped by some really bad people…

The plot seems a bit far-fetched at times….a First Lady who happens to have some dark past…like she was a Russian terrorist in her youth and voila…is now at the White House…

Yes….it’s true…okay, it’s fiction we’re reading…don’t forget!!!

Witty dialogue, great characters…even if they seem not so real..Who cares….I like them.

So, onto the next adventure with these guys!!!!!

Damage Control, the 4th book in this series is a really great a riveting read and so far the one that I liked the most.

From the book’s opening chapters you know you are going on another thrilling adventure with Jonathan “Digger” Grave aka Scorpion and Brian Van de Meulebroeke – known as Boxers which will take you to the jungles of Mexico, have run-ins with drug cartels, new religion movements, shot at by Mexican and US police and having to save their PC (not that does not mean politically correct….read the series and find out what it means….) the sole survivor of a massacre.

Character development at its best…..of previous characters we have met in previous books to new ones…here we have Tristan Wagner, scared survivor trying to deal with something he has no understanding of.

The relationship between Jonathan and Boxers is really amazing and I love their interaction and dialogue.

I can’t wait for book 5 of this series which has become a favorite of mine.

When a woman and her son are kidnapped and held hostage by a sinister military group calling themselves the “Army of God”, Jonathan and his team are soon onto their new mission to rescue them before they are killed by the secret cult-like society bent on bringing destruction and death to America.

A kick-ass and adrenalin filled plot, with strong and memorable characters that it’s impossible to put down.

The 2ND book in John Gilstrap’s Jonathan Grave Series featuring extraordinaire freelance hostage rescue operative Jonathan "Digger" Grave,

is a great follow-up to No Mercy https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6... .

An intricate, multilayered plot with several storylines woven into the story
beginning with the kidnapping of two teenage boys from a school for children of incarcerated parents, which Jonathan has a vested interested in, it soon leads him and his team into the world of corrupt politicians, drug lords and the cocaine factories in Colombia.

The story moves along at a great pace filled with suspense and intrigue with twists and turns at every corner.

The obstacles the team faces seem at times so farfetched but the author somehow makes it seem plausible and believable. Never mind that I am totally out of my depth when it comes to all the gadgets and military tactics that we are shown in the story….it comes together in a way that doesn’t detract from the plot.

The character development is great with some memorable characters that you can’t help engaging with.

Enjoyed the dialogue and interaction between the characters and Jonathan Grave's continually unfolding back-story,

Some quotes that I liked -

“You have to learn to cope with the reality of what is, he heard Father Dom telling him. When bad things happen to us”

“He remembered his drill sergeant from a million years ago in Basic Training telling him that the only life worth living is the one worth dying to protect.

I've read a few books by this author which I enjoyed so I was looking forward to getting into his Jonathan Grave Series.

Wow, 1st book in the series, and I’m hooked.

Jonathan Grave is a wealthy ex-Delta Force soldier, now owner of Security Solutions that deals in doing freelance and covert hostage rescue missions with connections to FBI.

The book opens with a rescue operation gone bad and soon becomes immersed in trying to locate his ex wife’s husband who has gone missing.
This is a hero who is not afraid to take out the bad guys even if it means breaking the law…..as long as he saves the good guys.
Together with his side-kicks, Boxers and Venice, we are taken on an exhilarating ride as they race against time to stop the nefarious villains from destroying the world.

Great secondary characters which are well-developed, action packed and a fast paced plot filled with suspense and intrigue that grabs you from page 1.
