At the Edge of the Sun by Anne Stuart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I loved this series.
Maggie, the kick-ass heroine is a great character and it was really wonderful seeing another side of her.....
Randall...i loved this guy. Sexy, dark, tormented and so in love with Maggie but unable to show it.....
Adored Maggie's sister, Holly. She made me smile throughout the story.
Secrets, betrayals, spies, terrorists, romance, suspense....it's Anne Stuart....she just knows how to write the best suspense romance ever.
I wish there was a Holly book!!!!!

Review: A Virgin For His Prize (Ruthless Russians #2) by Lucy Monroe
A Virgin For His Prize by Lucy Monroe
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
This was a real drag to get to the end.
Heiress & russian millionaire.....the fight, they like each other, they don't.....so boring.................
I felt no connection between the hero and heroine...no sparks...no nothing.
Also secondary characters were uninteresting.
Not for me...even if I have liked some books by this author...this was one of those I didn't...like.

Review: The Valquez Bride (The Playboys of Argentina #1) by Melanie Milburne
The Valquez Bride by Melanie Milburne
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
A marriage of convenience between an outrageously gorgeous and sexy Argentinean, Alejandro Valquez and an Englishwoman, Theodora Malrstone.
He does not want a wife. She has always dreamed of having a fairytale wedding. But they have no choice due to something that links them both to her father’s will.
I liked the storyline and the characters. Two people, human and both with their imperfections, both inside and out, their loneliness and their inner pain that capture your sympathy and understanding.
Dani Collins has a terrific writing style which made this story really engaging.

Review: The 9th Girl (Kovac and Liska #4) by Tami Hoag
The 9th Girl by Tami Hoag
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
#4 in the Sam Kovak & Nikki Liska series The 9th Girl is such a sad and shocking story.
Detectives Sam Kovak & Nikki Liska follow a trail of smoke and mirrors after a body of a young girl is thrown out of the trunk of a moving car that may be the latest victim of a serial killer, who has eluded capture for some years, named “Doc Holiday”
Characters well-developed and realistic. Liska’s home-life with her kids felt so real to me. How to deal with her young sons on an everyday basis….trying to be a good mother…questioning if she was doing the right thing for them.
The one character that pulled me in completely was Penelope Gray, the victim of the most horrific, cruel, intense and brutal death and the pain she suffered most of her life. Her loneliness, hopelessness, her cry for help that no one did anything about. Heart-rending.
Great dialogue – especially between Kovak & Liska – they have a lovely chemistry and really good connection.
The plot was good, though a slow start soon picked up pace that had me turning the pages wanting to find out who killed Penny Gray.
When the murderer is revealed at the end, I was…beyond SHOCKED and HORRIFIED. I surprise I NEVER expected.

Review: Prior Bad Acts (Kovac/Liska, #3) by Tami Hoag
Prior Bad Acts by Tami Hoag
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
PRIOR BAD ACTS, the 3rd book in the Sam Kovak & Nikki Liska series and opens with the horrific murder of a mother and her two foster children.
Detective Sam Kovac, and his partner Nikki Liska are pulled into a case where nothing seems to be what you think.
A cast of interesting and realistic characters that you engage with, in particular Kovak & Liska. I enjoy the connection between the two.
A well written, fast paced plot that includes kidnapping, murder, torture, secrets, rogue cops, pornography and a lot of twists and turns that keep you guessing until the very end.
When the identity of the real villain was revealed – okay I had a vague idea…..but damn….if I was not totally surprised!!!!

Review: The Golem of Hollywood by Jonathan Kellerman, Jesse Kellerman
The Golem of Hollywood by Jonathan Kellerman
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
Is this book really written by Jonathan Kellerman that writes the fantastic Alex Delaware Series? Let me check…yes, that’s what is says on the cover…he wrote this with his son, Jesse Kellerman.
Perhaps that’s the reason that The Golem of Hollywood is my LEAST liked book written by JK!!!
What a bizarre plot..no, wait…two plots interwoven into one story!! An alcoholic burnt-out detective given the task of solving a serial killer’s murders in LALA land and Asham, sister of Cain & Abel…are they the C & A from the bible????? Geez…still haven’t figured it out!!!
I did not care about any of the characters…too may twisted and evil and not so nice…...i tried really hard to like Jacob Lev…hell with a father like his….believe me dad is not a nice guy….just check out what secrets he has and what he did to his family that contributed a LOT to the kind of guy Jacob turned into……and just when I had a little warm buzz, Jacob shows himself to be such an idiot!!!
The plot didn’t work for me…from Jacob to Asham…back to Jacob and then to golems…..my head was spinning…and not in a good way!!!
So, a contemporary crime/thriller/serial killer mixed with paranormal/golems……hey, you confused!! At the end of this rather weird and really boring book…I was like
The epilogue ….hated it…..and hated some of the characters even more when all is revealed!! Well, not all exactly because it felt like to me that there will be more of Jacob & Mia!!!!! Am I interested in that????
I think I’ll wait for the next Alex Delaware book instead!!!!!

Review: Against the Wind by Anne Stuart
Against the Wind by Anne Stuart
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Another earlier book by one of my favorite romantic suspense writers and though I enjoyed it, it was not one of my favorites of hers.
The plot was interesting and intriguing set in some fictional South American country…where the bad guys are involved in drugs and kill off the innocent poor!!!! But the storyline does have a unique premise, which I really liked.
I wasn’t crazy about the hero, Jake. He was really a bastard at times towards Maddy, the heroine.
The one character who did it for me was Soledad…she had the best lines….just adored her take on becoming a step grandmother!!!!
Mystery, action, romance, suspense, twists and turns, bad guys, good guys …..exactly what I get from this author’s books.
If you’re a fan of Anne Stuart you will enjoy this.

Tortured and dark hero helping the heroine, who he's had feelings for many years but never told her, find the truth about her father's death.
Fast paced, suspense filled action, sexual tension.....the hallmarks of this author's writing.

Rapture by J.R. Ward
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
This was such a boring story. I enjoyed the previous three books but book #4 .....had me thinking if I want to continue reading this series.
Mathias & Mels...so so boring.....he trying to be a good person and do the right thing....hell, wouldn't you if you were stuck in hell and were given a chance to move over to heaven????? Of course you would!
And Mels - geez...i can't find any words to write about her...let's just say that nothing about her grabbed me.
And what's going on with Jim Heron!!!! Where has the interesting and sexy angel disappeared to???? Even he tired me.
I was going to add something about the she-devil aka Devina...but too tired to think up words good enough to describe what I think about her!!!!
Yes, i arrived at THE END...and I will probably read the next book....this is JR WARD....my favourite author's series....so I can't be disloyal here!!
I just pray that book 5 will grab me!!!!!

This was such an awful read for me...I was really looking forward to this author's new series...i really liked her Club Destiny Series....but Kaleb....i really wanted to like his story...but I just did not.
The characters, and not just the two mc's were so uninteresting and I felt no connection with any of them.
The whole misunderstanding and angst and yes and no.....too much for me. And then..out of the blue...a threesome!!!!! Now I enjoy that genre but a good story has to have the three persons totally involved with each other...but here it was like...hey...wanna do it with me and my best friend????
Oooh and the heroine suddenly thinks she might not be good at threesomes and her hero will not like her anymore!!!!!!
Skim page, skip next page...no this is pure torture!! Why am I not giving up now? Hey, it might get better!!
But no my friends....it did not!!!!
I think I may just give up reading the next books in this series...the brothers don't sound that interesting!!!!!

Review: Risk the Night by Anne Stuart
Risk the Night by Anne Stuart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is why I am a fan of Anne Stuart. No one writes sexy suspense and romantic stories like she does.
Risk the Night is a novella and 7th in her Ice Series.
A naive journalist and a cold-blooded assassin with an instant connection!!!
50 pages packed with suspense, romance, sexual tension, a dark, dangerous and lethal…and yes, sexy sexy hero who redeems himself in end and a naïve but strong heroine and hot & sizzling sex…..
This was such a great quick read and the only disappointment….that it was so short…that it ended so quickly….I would love to get a full novel of Constantine & Madison.
If you’re fan of Anne Stuart and you loved her Ice Series as much as I did – then get this little gem!!!

“Let go,” he said, his voice a mere whisper. “Don’t fight it. Take it. Take me.” He bit her earlobe again, hard, and she cried out, sliding to a darker level of hell, shuddering in the final, building response that made no sense, she had come already, too many times, she didn’t want this, she was afraid …An electrifying game of danger and desire.
And then the last barrier fell, and she tried to scream, but no sound came out as she tumbled into the darkness, free falling, her entire body shaking apart. She clawed for something to hold onto, but he fell with her, his silent, choked gasp echoing in her ears as everything went black.

Review: Personal (Jack Reacher, #19) by Lee Child
Personal by Lee Child
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Personal: the 19th Jack Reacher Novel by Lee Childs is a not nearly as good as early ones in this series but definitely better than some of the last couple of books.
Jack Reacher is such an unconventional hero and I have grown to like his character more and more with each book. Ex military policeman who has chosen to become a drifter…off the grid…travel by bus, train or just walk across America – no possessions except a pocket toothbrush…he buys new clothes in each new town and throws his used ones away….he does however, have a atm card!!!!
But as usual, he’s found by his old bosses and friends when there’s a need for a man of his knowledge…this time to help old USA with an unsuccessful plot to kill the French president.
So, he’s soon off to Paris…his deceased mother’s birth town, where he meets up with some nincompoops….and some not so…..just misses being killed by a sniper…who is thought to be someone Reacher had put away years ago. And finds time to eat some real French fare in a real French café and even visiting his mother’s grave….which was quite a touching scene.
Then it’s off to London with Casey Nice, the young and green State Department official or is it CIA agent
Hell, Jack Reacher is the ultimate James Bond
all in one!!! The ultimate JACK REACHER!!!
I just love how he thinks, the way he observes and analyzes things around him and how good he is at working out what makes people tick.
Not much talk but much listening and watching and acting on his instincts…which are pretty awesome!!!
I have to say something here….the whole Socratic thing!!!! Okay, critical thinking…yes JR does that a lot…but never seen that word used in any previous books. I guess it’s the modern terms of this new age!!!!!!
Some new and interesting characters….Casey Nice…don’t we just love her truck!!! And Bennett, the MI5 or is it 6? And Scarangelo…geez now that’s quite a mouthful!!!!
I liked this book… after all it’s JACK REACHER!!!!

Still don’t get it? Must not have kids then. See, children are beautiful precious. Angelic. Particularly hen they’re sleeping. They’re disturbed mid-sleep-cycle however? They’re monsters. Irritable angry little beasts who bear a striking resemblance to gremlins fed after midnight. So, Drew, Kate and little James…..here’s to your happiness together…now, please can we get Warren & Lily’s book next?????????????
The road to this day wasn’t all rainbows and boners. There were some potholes – mistakes – misunderstanding worthy of a Greek fucking tragedy.

Raid is the 3rd book in Kristen Ashley’s Unfinished Heroes Series and I enjoyed it immensely….one of the reasons being the heroine’s grandmother. She was such a fabulous and unforgettable character……
Raiden Ulysses Miller,ex Marine hero comes back home, trying to deal with PTSD and the darkness of his time in service meets Hanna Boudreaux, the sweet and lovely local girl, who has had a crush on Raid since she was 6 years old….he of course, has never noticed her.
Hanna decides she needs to change her life….new look, sporty new car, soon gets her noticed……
There are some dark moments and some really hilarious ones…..the dialogue had me rolling on the floor a few times.Loved seeing these two finding and healing each other…… a true HEA…..

Review: Bones Never Lie (Temperance Brennan, #17) by Kathy Reichs
Bones Never Lie by Kathy Reichs
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The latest novel from Kathy Reichs, Bones Never Lie, is the 17th book in the Temperance Brennan Series and so much better than the last one, Bones of the Lost https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... , which I did not like at all…
Temperance Brennan , forensic anthropologist and member of Charlotte’s Cold Case Unit is working on a disappearance and death of young girls that have the same characteristics of the murders by the evil and wicked Anique Pomerleau that evaded being caught by Tempe and Detective Andrew Ryan and now seems to resurface in Charlotte, continuing a murder spree. We first met this serial killer in Monday Mourning.
Despite a bit of a slow start, it soon speeds up and we are taken on a fast paced and tension filled trip as we try to guess who the villain is…..i did have a feeling of the identity, which just by the way, I was right about…but there are still some surprises left in the end.
I adored Tempe’s mother…..and her computer saviness….in fact she was my favorite character in this book and I just hope we get more of her in the next books. Not sure about Det. Siddell….he’s a pretty weird character and some of his comments are so just out there!!!!
I loved seeing Andrew Ryan back in Tempe’s life. He’s going through a really tough time after the death of his daughter and I would really like to see these two together again. I wonder how their relationship will develop.
Naturally, with the “cliffhanger” at the end….I will just have to read book #18!

Review: Bones of the Lost (Temperance Brennan #16) by Kathy Reichs
Bones of the Lost by Kathy Reichs
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
I have enjoyed this series but what is going on with the last few books??? Is the author getting bored with her characters? Or is someone else writing for her????
Bones of the Lost is the 16th book in the Temperance Brennan Series and the one I have liked the least.
I like Temperance but I just could not engage with her …..Is she a forensic anthropologist or a police detective???? Apart from doing some forensic work on mummified dogs…yes, I kid you not…she spends the entire time solving cases on her own because the cops are not doing it right……
She becomes involved in a hit and run death of an unidentified teenage girl, travels to Afghanistan to work on skeletons of two locals killed by a US soldier and meets up and goes shopping with her daughter, who has joined as a soldier in said Afghanistan……yes, there are shops in the US base!!!!!
And the whole thing with Ryan, her ex Canadian detective??? He’s going thru a dark and painful time and what does Tempe do??? Nothing…..she just carries on with her life…dealing with her totally idiotic ex-husband and bimbo to be new wife!!!!
There is such a lot of technical stuff that after a while….I just kept skipping pages so I could get to the end of this very boring story. Oh, and Tempe doing a “HIGH-FIVE”….what!!!!!
I hope the next book will be better and more like the first ones in the series.

Review: The Lost Key (A Brit in the FBI) by Catherine Coulter
The Lost Key by Catherine Coulter
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This is the 2nd book of Britt in the FBI, with ex Detective Chief Inspector Sir Nicholas Drummond of the London Metropolitan Police, now with NY FBI and teamed up with Michaela aka Mike Caine.
On his first day at work after completing his training, they are assigned to a murder case which immediately takes them on a non-stop action journey that spans back to WW2, megalomaniac villains, crazed scientists and shadowy and secret groups.
The two main characters are likeable and easy to engage with and I liked their interaction and chemistry.
Nicholas Drummond is like a sexy James Bond…complete with right English accent, a butler, a gorgeous stately English home and an English title. There’s no way Mike Caine can resist this alpha male.
A good suspenseful thriller that is entertaining and easy to read.

Review: Sheikh's Scandal (The Chatsfield, #1) by Lucy Monroe
Sheikh's Scandal by Lucy Monroe
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
The 1st book in the series and it's like a Cinderella meets her Prince Charming...the chambermaid and the Sheikh
The Chatsfields seem an interesting family and I am probably going to read this series...but this story lacked something for me.
It"s not that I didn"t like the mc's....just felt they had no real connection or sexual chemistry together.
I found it a bit of a struggle to finish this one....not a bad book but just not that great.

Review: Chained by Night (MoonBound Clan Vampire, #2) by Larissa Ione
Chained by Night by Larissa Ione
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The last book ended with Hunter, one of the few first pure second generation vampires (with a bit of Native American thrown in…
He will sacrifice his happiness for his clan’s survival – even marrying someone he despises. No two sisters could be so different. Rasha, the Evil twin, strong warrior and father’s favorite and Aylin, second born, abused and tortured all her life by her family and clan because of her leg deformity is seen as a weak to be ignored vampire that no man wants. But MoonBound does something to her…we begin to see the real Aylin…strong, intelligent, caring, loyal, loving and a true warrior. I loved seeing her bloom…
But when he meets Rasha’s twin sister, Ailyn, he instantly feels drawn to her. There’s an immediate and powerful connection between them and as he gets to know her, the more difficult it is for him to keep his word of mating with Rasha, who he despises more each day as she shows her true colors.
To break a demonic curse Hunter and Aylin who has volunteered in Rasha’s place…no this evil one does not do anything for anyone…..will have to cross over to a demon realm and complete three deadly tests.
Giving us insights and revelations of the characters …ones we know from previous book…my favorites Riker and Nicole, who feature quite a bit in this book….and new characters that I feel we will get more of in the next books.
One of my favorite scenes…..when Hunter teaches Aylin to play video games………….
I hope we get book #3 soon……….

CHAINED BY NIGHT is the 2nd book in the MoonBound Clan Vampire series by one of my favorite PNR authors and since reading the 1st book Bound By Night https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... earlier this year I have been eagerly waiting for Hunter’s story. Leader of the MoonBound Clan….
I was not disappointed……..what a fabulous follow up to the amazing and original , dark and sensual world that Larissa Ione has created.
The last book ended with Hunter, one of the few first pure second generation vampires (with a bit of Native American thrown in…
“There’s an old Cheyenne saying about how, when a man is as wise as a serpent, he can afford to be as harmless as a dove.”and a bit of demon too…..) agreeing to mate the evil Rasha, daughter of the rival ShadowSpawn’s clan so that he could protect his clan and keep the peace between the rival vampire clans.
“Aylin had gotten under his skin, and for all his experience fighting enemies, he had no defense against a female whose strength humbled him, whose voice soothed him, and whose touch drove him wild.”Soon they give in to the undeniable sexual chemistry for each other and Hunter must now find a way to be with the woman he really loves without betraying his clan.
Giving us insights and revelations of the characters …ones we know from previous book…my favorites Riker and Nicole, who feature quite a bit in this book….and new characters that I feel we will get more of in the next books.
One of my favorite scenes…..when Hunter teaches Aylin to play video games………….
“...but sometimes mindless entertainment was a release of its own. Most important, mindless entertainment didn’t come with complications.”Action packed, fast paced and so well written, the author has created yet another world that is just as exciting and erotic as her Demonica series.
I hope we get book #3 soon……….

Review: One Night with Morelli by Kim Lawrence
One Night with Morelli by Kim Lawrence
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
That’s me reading Kim Lawrence’s new book, One Night with Morelli!!!
You see, it had me all over the place………..I just couldn’t get these two MC’s!! They were just so off the wall from the usual M&B characters.
Let’s see it I am able to make some sense here…..
Draco Morelli is a gorgeous Italian millionaire..
You are getting the idea that I like Draco???
Now about Eve Curtis….she’s like this gorgeous and sexy redhead but wait, she thinks that she’s not!!!! How that is possible for someone who is totally independent and owner of a sexy underwear designer company just blows my mind…yes, sexy underwear…something like Victoria’s Secret… But then she doesn’t trust men…look what happened to her mother!!! Falling pregnant with Eve when she worked for some rich sod, who told her to get an abortion, she’s now marrying her new boss because she’s pregnant. You kind of understand Eve’s idea of men….not for her…but wait that does not mean she’s a lesbian….not even close!!! Because when she starts noticing, really noticing sexy Draco….everything she thought just flies out the window!!!
She can’t understand why she has all these feelings for Draco…what, are you stupid girl!!! He’s the perfect man…oh yes, sorry Eve, you do not do love, relationships, men…..because you have a lot of men issues!!!!
Of course they get together!!!!
He’s sexy, not pushy and domineering……and it helps that he’s hot in bed..he’s Italian after all!!
Swept off her feet…..but boy does Draco have to work at the relationship!! This is not an instant love at first sight…no no….this is a get to know each other and fall in love forever!!!
Let me think…. Did I enjoy Draco & Eve’s love story???
Surprisingly I did……………okay, there was a bit of long-winded inner monologues, yes, no….but somehow the characters were very endearing…..and I adored the epilogue.
WISHING YOU HAPPY TIMES DRACO & EVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

and yes, he’s a ruthless guy, alpha-male but he has this side to him that is totally endearing. He’s a fabulous father to his teenage daughter (such a lovable secondary character), he’s never mean to his horrible slutty ex-wife..in fact he stays friends with her for the daughter’s sake, he’s not jaded and cynical despite past relationships with women..and yes, he doesn’t do relationships or love…now, he only does
